Re: [Chevelle-list] Windshield install clips etc.

2007-06-13 Thread J. Brady
Another thought if you don't want to screw it up-
When my car needed a windshield (had none when it came
home), I called safelite and they did the whole thing-
new clips on rivets, the whole shebang. It was all
included in the price of the windshield replacement
($120 I think at the time), but you might be able to
call and have a dude come out and lend a hand for 1/2
the money. Just my 2 cents- Good luck!

Chuck, Be sure to install your clips before the windshield is in place. I
use Butyl rubber tape. It is available at most good parts stores. Use either
3/8" or 5/16". If you have never done this before get some help. It is hard
to describe the process in an email. Check the team chevelle achieves for WS
installation instructions.

The real fun starts is when you put the trim back on and you have new
paint to deal with..opps

I scratch my new paint...Have at it.

Where is a good source for clips and installation sealer? (if you call it
that) I believe the clips are placed around the windshield and the sealer
is applied to the body. Then the glass is carefully installed. Anyone do
this often enough to give advice?

Thanks,
Chuck K.

I've heard that a windshield is installed in two stages. First to the
body, then a second step to install the trim etc. Is this correct? I would
like to install the front and back glass and later have the trim done. Is
this practical?
