Very good point. That's precisely why I sold my Chevy truck (that I bought new in 91). That's been three months ago and I honestly haven't missed it. If I still feel that way next Spring,I might not buy a new vehicle at all. Can buy an awful lot of fuel for my other vehicles for what a car payment would cost. There is a strong movement afoot to have cars and trucks lumped together in the CAFE standards. That will swing the pendulum back towards cars becoming a larger part of our lives. I doubt we will see light trucks and SUV's comprise over 60% of new vehicle sales in the future. Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger[now Gas Prices]
I can certainly agree with what you're saying,Chuck. Was going to build a 496" BBC for my car but am re-thinking that strategy now. I purchased some Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and intake, along with a hydraulic roller cam set-up for my 350 SBC. Just sold the cam to buy another one more suited to my new combination. High fuel prices will force a lot of people to curtail useage and that will bring down demand. It won't happen overnight but it will happen. ok (laffin) my jetta i bought for 1000 bucks it was cheap trans.and book was 4000 so it was a deal but let me ask ya are you prepared to pay repair bills on a vw they are expensive even if you fix it yourself i live in atlanta were parts should not be hard to git but for a jetta it took a week for me to git a p/s pump and it was hooked to the water pump so i was with out it for a week.so my chevelle? uhhh for a small block parts are plentiful and affordable hell the fun it is to drive plus dependability i dont see were i can go wrong ,your desil will only git that fuel econmy if it is in perfect tune and that calls for part replacement quicker than u would think my chevelle will git ablot 20 or so mpg as long as i can stay outta the fours lol but no matter what decision i make i doubt i will buy another vw or european car

Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger
Yep put the money in the chevelle! It cost me $45 bucks to fill my 67 Malibu yesterday, but it gets pretty good gas mileage. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2005 1:21 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger well i have seriously been thinking insead of buying a new car selling my jetta and putting the money in my 72 ss conv.i pulled the big block for now and replaced w/small block for financal reasons it is the most dependable car i have ever owned and with a quadrajet the gas milage isnt too bad ,i can work on it without a computer and its more fun than a new vette and not to mention the smiles it gits on the road

Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger
They said that and I did not respond to what I drive either. wow! My suggestion might be for C8NDYJ to ask some technically difficult questions and keep us busy. I was going to write about it being winter here in Texas (our summer = North winter) and it 95 degrees in my garage at 9:00 at night. Had to chase a couple of copperheads out of the garage couple of saturdays ago. Not much progress can be made with the outside temps being what they are. So, I'll stay in and order more parts. later mike --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: - Yes it is, but sometimes, we just like to BS. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Aug 30, 2005 2:35 PM To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger I thought this was a chevelle site? __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [Chevelle-list] new Dodge Charger
I've never been much of a fan of GM's small car offerings,,until the introduction of the new Cobalt. From what I've been reading, this car is a serious piece of technology, especially in its suspension design. Cammer motors are nice but way too complicated and costly. The new Z06 is going to kill the majority of the other exotic sportscars. I agree. But the Cobalt should be a great choice for the young hot rodders as gas prices go to 3.50. The other thing is that Firebird transAm was lame. Too much plastic. They should have kept the Camaro. I also wonder why they do not do a DOHC head engine. Ford has several and the new Vette is still a push rod motor.
