[Chevelle-list] seat question

2008-05-13 Thread Dave Benjamin
I just listed some 1969 to 1972 bucket seats on Ebay. I don't know what they
come out of and they have weird floor mount brackets any help appreciated.

Thanks again

I know, but the previous owner had just added another seat cover
on top of the old one, creating something that looks like an exclusive
cheese in between :-( So I just figured that some air circulation too
couldn't be wrong ;-)

it not a Mold Thing Pelle.. it's a wear thing. The Jute acts as a buffer
between the steel springs and the soft Foam..

Hi!

I guess I'd be ok with some sort of fine but sturdy nylon net
or fabric then? Making it possible for the foam to "breathe",
to avoid the new seat to get mouldy again?

Yes Pelle, you need something between the soft Foam and the hard
Spring steel, to prevent it from grinding it's way through the foam...I
used a newer type (nylon Polly ?) feed bag cut to fit on one set of
Buckets !

What is the "jute" stuff with thin steel wires between the springs & the
foam called?

Is it necessary to use it? Can I use sth else?

2004-02-23 Thread Bill Bradley
My seats set higher (floorboard to lower seat cushion) than the bench that
was in the car and I assume the standard bucket seats, mine are high back
buckets with head rests that came from a 99 Pontiac Grand Am, they look
great in the car, don't get me wrong, I love them but I'm looking to lower
them a bit, but it may be more of a chore than its worth, the drivers seat
has power elevation and lowering, I don't need it but if my 5 foot
girlfriend has to drive it she may. and the fact that I'm over 6 foot tall,
I relocated the seat a little further back. the main reason I did this
(besides my height) was I broke my right kneecap back in November so I can
now get in with the seat all the way back and slide it forward to drive

[Chevelle-list] Seat Question

2004-02-23 Thread Larry Williams
My originial SS buckets were trashed, so I installed seats from a 80s Buick.
I really like the electric controls. My only complaint is that they are a
little too high. The motor gear finally gave out, and I am considering
finding other seats, possibly a power type. Any suggestions or
observations. I still have the original seats on the shelf.
