If it's directly under the car, turndowns might make the matter worse by bouncing the pulse off the roadway; in which case turnouts might be a better solution. Do you think adding turn-downs might help? Reverberation can be solved by simply moving the (final) exhaust outlet away from the underneath of the car...whether it be out the side or rear.
