Re: [Chevelle-List] Anybody running Flowmaster mufflers behind stock exhaust manifolds and header pipes?
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I think a fair price is what you're willing to pay for it. I know that's not much help, but it's just like buying any other car in my opinion. For comparison sake, I paid $8000 for mine 9 years ago. It was all stock, L48, auto, A/C, p/w, ralley wheels, ok tires, about 50k miles, leather seas, and not much else. 4 speeds are always worth more than autos. Paint jobs for Vettes can get VERY expensive. The Vette brake system is a pain in the ass. Vettes can rust. (check around the windshield area, doors, and frame) You're dealing with 6 u-joints now instead of just 2 If you shop around, you'll find prices anywhere from $3000 or so (for a crappy Vette) all the way up to $10k for a very nice one... and since it's your uncle, well, then maybe he'll be nice and let it go for cheap! : ) Hope this helps. cYa- Herb Lumpp 1966 El Camino http://web.tampabay.rr.com/herbsworld/Elky/welcome.htm hey herbert, my uncle wants to know if i want to buy his 76 vette. he just wants to get rid of it. hasn't driven it in about 4-5 yrs. he is original owner, 41,000 miles ,always garaged-no winters,350 L48 white with black interior, 4spd. body has no stress cracks, original paint. needs both rear calipers and complete exhaust, tires. whats a fair price? - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is anybody out there running Flowmaster 2-chamber or 3-chamber mufflers and tailpipes behind stock exhaust manifolds and header pipes? After taking a detour last week to order a new gas tank the accompanying h/w, I'm back to thinking about a new exhaust system. When I got my new Year One catalog in the mail with my gas tank bolt shipmen over the weekend, I noticed that the catalog lists the stock muffler dimensions as 25 overall length with a 21 case length, whereas the Flowmaster 3-chamber dimensions are 22 overall 16 case and the 2-chamber dimensions are 19 overall 13 case. Given that the Flowmaster mufflers are shorter than stock mufflers and the Flowmaster tailpipes claim to be the same length and bend footprints as stock tailpipes, I'm wondering if I'd be able to connect a set of Flowmaster mufflers and tailpipes directly to my stock 80 header pipes or whether I'll need some sort of extensions (to get the muflers to sit far enough back so that the tailpipes will loop over the rear properly). (I realize that a muffler shop could properly rig up something with no sweat, but I was hoping that I could just buy all off-the-shelf parts and be able to assemble everything right out of the box without needing any special bending or welding tools). If anybody has any experience or thoughts on this, I'd appreciate hearing them! Herb, I'd be interested in that WAV file, as I might be replacing the exhaust on both my cars within the next year. Is anyone running Flowmaster 3-chamber mufflers? My Camino is a driver/cruiser, and a low, mellow sound is more important than all out performance. I imagine the 2-chamber mufflers might be louder than what I'm looking for. -Dave, [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Herbert LumppSent: Thursday, September 13, 2001 4:05 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] Anybody running Flowmaster mufflers behind stock exhaust manifolds and header pipes? Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I just visited a friend who has a 70 SS Chevelle w/ headers 3-chamber Flowmasters. I though the sound was awesome. I want to put them on my 69 El Camino, which will also be a driver/cruiser. Like you, I want a nice rumble but nothing too loud. - Original message - Is anyone running Flowmaster 3-chamber mufflers? RE: [Chevelle-List] Anybody running Flowmaster mufflers behind stock exhaust manifolds and header pipes?
I just installed 3 chamber Flowmaster delta flows on my 70. I bought the 2 1/2"Flowmaster extensions that go other the rear axle. Their bends are very nice work and they fit great! I did have the muffler shop make the pieces from the headers to the Flowmasters. That was a pretty easy piece for them to make, I imagine that a short extension with clampswould not be a big deal.
