I'd say that car certainly bears looking at if it's near you. That steering wheel is easily replaced. My 70 LS6 clone goes to shows every single weekend and wins just about everywhere it goes whether it is a points judged or peer judged show. I took it to Super Chevy 2 weeks ago and took first runner up in the 1970 Chevelle Street class. This is one of the toughest shows to place at and it placed. I also took 3rd at the MCC/ACES NE Regional show last month. I had it at Chevellabration, but there was no way I was going to take a top 3 there with so many really sweet 70's there, but I didn't really care about that. Re: [Chevelle-List] Do people have anything against SS clones???
So if you have SS badging, hood, wheels, and skunk stipes on you regular malabu "It's passing ot off as an SS ". Interesting prospective. Especially from one who took a real 138 car and made it into your beautiful creation. A fine example or your individuial tast. I am sure,.your actions have the purest running with there production numbering crayons and knocking overe there inspection panit dab bottles. Imatation ( or in this cass duplucation) is he best form of flattery. And I think we all can agree on the notin that the General made a great group of Chevelles 64/72 so IMO unless your doing ot to fleece some unsuspecting buyer. I have a copy of a Monnette in the hall. I don't have, nore would I spend the 1.3 million the orginial brought a few years ago. I like the picture and what it protrays. and everbody, unsuspection or not has admired it. I do not say it's on loan from the National Art Museum. Just that my bride and I like it hanging in our foyer. Re: [Chevelle-List] Do people have anything against SS clones???
Chad: most likely only if you were trying to pass it off as the real thing. Larry (z)
Re: [Chevelle-List] Do people have anything against SS clones???
There is nothing wrong with a clone so long as you do not make it appear to be something it's not. My 70 is an LS6 clone, and the tell tale sign that is is not an LS6 is the fact that it is a factory A/C car. I made up a custom heater box to get rid of the A/C so now it is a non A/C car. Then you have the people who try to pass of a clone as a True SS and the problem with 69-72 cars is that there is no way to tell if it is or not unless you have the build sheet or there is a "W" VIN code in the 1972 model year. I always ask people if there car is a real SS or not, then if I know for a fact it is not, I will point out that it is a clone and the specific reasons why I know this. I tore this one guy a new one for trying to pass off a plain as day restored Malibu as an Unrestored LS6. There are also far more clones out there than True SS cars. This one show I was at had 6 1970 Chevelles there and 4 of them had the LS6 air cleaner/emission decals on them including mine. Bottom line is don't pass it off or try to sell it as something it's not. People will know and it is also considered fraud. Tom

For a car thats advertised as Cloned Perfectly, I thought the Pink steering wheel was a nice touch.
