I shudder to think how that combo "fit".

  Now,there's a strange combination
if there ever was one.  15x10 wheels with 3.5" backspacing is a recipe
  for mucho clearance problems.

  A 245 tire on a 10" rim is
probably unsafe and would look pretty
silly.

I have two possibilities on my ‘what
fits what’ page (http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/tire_wheel.htm).
 One 72 Malibu owner has 15x8x3.75 w/245x60, a 71 Malibu owner has 15x10x3.5 w/245x60
and another 71 owner has 295x50 but failed to give wheel size.

I just got a set of 15x8.5 rims for the rear of my 71
chevelle. They have a 3.5" backspacing.

I want to put some meaty tires in the rear. What size tires
would fit nice with out rubbing.

I'm guessing a 265/60/15 or something around that size.

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE  ;)

Thanks,

Kyle

My suggestion is to find some wheels with more
backspacing. You really need around 4.5" to run a 265 or 275 tire without
worrying about clearance problems.
