I shudder to think how that combo "fit". :-)) Clint HooperH&H Custom,owner1969 El Camino ProTourer2001 H-D FLHR custom baggerhttp://dalesplace.com/misc/friends/clint/clint_hooper.htm - Original Message - From: Dale I only report em :*) Dale McIntosh 67 El Camino 1967 Chevelle Reference CD in progress ACES #1709/TC Gold #92 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Clint HooperSent: Wednesday, April 27, 2005 10:07 PMTo: The Chevelle Mailing ListSubject: Re: [Chevelle-list] rear tires Now,there's a strange combination if there ever was one. 15x10 wheels with 3.5" backspacing is a recipe for mucho clearance problems. A 245 tire on a 10" rim is probably unsafe and would look pretty silly. RE: [Chevelle-list] rear tires
I have two possibilities on my ‘what fits what’ page (http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/tire_wheel.htm). One 72 Malibu owner has 15x8x3.75 w/245x60, a 71 Malibu owner has 15x10x3.5 w/245x60 and another 71 owner has 295x50 but failed to give wheel size. They have a 3.5" backspacing. I want to put some meaty tires in the rear. What size tires would fit nice with out rubbing. I'm guessing a 265/60/15 or something around that size. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ;) Thanks, Kyle
Re: [Chevelle-list] rear tires
My suggestion is to find some wheels with more backspacing. You really need around 4.5" to run a 265 or 275 tire without worrying about clearance problems.
