Re: [Chevelle-list] SBC Water Pump
Hi Denny, My '65 (with a/c) fan clutch seemed to be working okay until I installed a new one as part of an engine swap. What a difference! I used to get some "temp-creep" at stop signs, now it has been through a hot summer and the temp gauge never moves. Factory AC (A-6 compressor). The car has set up a lot the last few years, understand that is hard on the clutch. I think one of my 7 blades is slightly out of kilter, will replace it and the clutch. Re: [Chevelle-list] SBC Water Pump
I'm just north of Atlanta (Canton) and we do get some frigid wx every winter. I forget the protection level but seems like I'm good to about 15 below. In any case, if it is cold it will stay in the climate controlled basement anyway. The water wetter helps with the cooling, (see http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp ) and less anti freeze and more water makes it cool better also. ..Denny From: "Jim Sullivan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Reply-To: The Chevelle Mailing List To: "The Chevelle Mailing List" Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] SBC Water PumpDate: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 19:41:40 -0400 Denny, How cold does it get where you are?? Re: [Chevelle-list] SBC Water Pump
Reducing the antifreeze ratio helps the cooling. Pure water gets rid of heat much better but you need some anifreeze for corrosion resistance. In my ZR-1's all alum LT5's,I ran 100% pure distilled water with two bottles of Water Wetter in the summer and only added antifreeze in the winter. The Water Wetter took its place.
