Re: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own
Early attempt at safety. You can not lock your keys in the car that way. You have to puposely hold in the door button. When I first got the car, it took me awhile to notice that when I locked it, that the doors unlocked when I shut the door. Wish I had a easy fix but I dont. Just thought it was odd that someone else has possesed doors!! Ryan

yes, i can lock it with the key once the door is shut. I didnt realize that the doors "unlocking" themselves was normal. Live and learn Ryan

My car is the proving ground for reproduction parts. I personally test them so that others may benefit :) -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2005 8:48 PM To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own hey john are these (please forgive me) after market parts, you saidyou arehaving trouble with your visor, are you jinks with asian repops

RE: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own
That's not what's happening to me. What you are describing is normal. It's meant to prevent you from locking the keys in the car. You have to hold the button in when you shut the door if you want it to stay locked. Oddly enough, all day today mine was back to normal. BTW, the locks are new. Re: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own
Just a guess but the part that goes on the door lock that the little clip holds on may be the wrong one or is binding. - Original Message - From: John Nasta To: The Chevelle Mailing List Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2005 3:39 PM Subject: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own Every once in a while my driver's door lock stops working properly, and then magically it fixes itself. The symptom of the non-function is that when you turn the key to lock it and then turn the key back to take the key out of the lock, it unlocks. Likewise, if you turn the key to unlock it and then turn back to release the key, it locks again. This is just a minor nuisance because I can open the door with the key still in the lock and then take the key out, and I dont really need the key to lock it. Also, the problem seems to come and go. However, if anybody has some insight on what might be causing it, I'd like to try to fix it. Thanks for the suggestions on and off list. I guess the thing to do is take it apart, poke around for obvious problems, and lubricate everything. John Nasta
