I've been running Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 in mine but from what I have been reading, the ZDDP levels are dropping in that as well. Re: [Chevelle-list] engine oil
Tom & Dan, I am also running the Chevron DELO 400 15W-40 in my '70. You are correct about the amount of ZDDP levels dropping in it. I have been working for Chevron Oronite Company, we manufacture the additives that go into engine oils, for 33 years and have been seeing the amount of ZDDP in the packages of additives that we have been shipping to our customers drop over the last couple of years. I will be staying with the DELO 400 for the reason that not only does it contain ZDDP but it also contains MOLYBDEMUN. Combined with the ZDDP that remains in it this works very well. I am not a chemist just an operator that makes the additives and sees the combinations of products that are blended together that our customers are asking for. Hope this helps. Hi! Which one of the Rotella oils are you using? I Only use my car during the summer here in Sweden with temperatures between 60-86F (15-30C). B.R. Rotella is a great pick for an engine. As an old Shell dealer I have used it for years without a complaint. Use it exclusively in my BB's. gm66 --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: Larry Williams <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Chevelle List Subject: [Chevelle-list] Engine Oil Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2006 11:40:52 -0700 A friend of mine who is a fleet services mgr for the City of Mt View Ca., and a avid drag racing fan, AND who drives his BB 67 Camaro to work everyday mentioned that due to pollution control laws oil makers have removed crucial additives that prevent wear from oil used by gas engines.
