The other alternative after your wife has killed you! is to use a bicycle spoke

O k who knows the best method for removing the rear window crank handle. I cant
seem to get a screwdriver behind it to pop the spring clip out. Iam trying to
remove the rear interior panels to replace the sail panels and the rear deck
panel. Thank you. Bob.

Another method I've heard of is to get a shop rag, and slide it under
the handle...the clip will eventually grab the rag and pop off. Never
tried it, but good luck.

Get hold of one of your wife's crochet needles. It has a little hook on the
tip and works perfectly. Just hook it inside the clips rounding and pull!!

Try a window crank removal tool. It's the right tool for the job. You should
be able to find it at your local auto parts store in the help or special
tools section.

Moultrie, Ga. meet is next weekend and there should be so new ones available
there, pretty cheap. Do you want me to get some for you? I have a bunch of
old yellowed ones from my 70 Nova and 70 Skylark if you want to try and clean
those up. Weather is looking good for Saturday so I can't wait to get there.

My shoestrings cost $25.  You could
get four replacements including tax for under that.  Therefore, under a
shoestring budget.

Actually charming but untrue, i have had
pretty good luck with soap from the dishwasher and bleach mix, they have come
around quite nice, but not as clear as new,(they turned from dark orange to
medium yellow) i just thought with all the creativity out there someone else
might be on a shoestring budget such as i am and have a mixture of some other
cleaners that may be working better, seems to me a swap meet piece would be as
yellowed as my originals--- after all why spend money when you don't have to??

New ones are about $5 at swap meets, $7.50 catalog price. GM price $22.95 for
the whole part. $6.95 for a window crank knob kit. These are Classic Ind.
prices. Don't know how you can make something clear that has discolored with
age from heat and sun bake, I doubt that it can be done but you never know.
I'm not a pureist so I go with the $5 replacments.
