Did you see that? Marijuana is now the US's biggest

More than corn and wheat?

And to think that the DEA was busy busting little old

Also worth noting since American missionaries and
others were always using the excuse that the FATHERS
were involved in drugs so it justified taking the kids

ACF hasn't coughed up their English report yet.

There is a book out, The King Never Smiles, about

[cia-drugs] Tucson military recruiters ran cocaine

STAR INVESTIGATION

   Tucson military recruiters ran cocaine

Some kept visiting schools for 3 years after FBI caught them on tape
By Carol Ann Alaimo
/ Arizona Daily Star /
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 12.17.2006

A Midtown strip mall that should have housed the best of the best served
as Corruption Central in Tucson.
Two military recruiting stations sit side-by-side there, one run by the
Army, the other by the Marines. Between them, a total of seven
recruiters were on the take, secretly accepting bribes to transport
cocaine, even as most spent their days visiting local high schools.
They had help from several more recruiters at an Army National Guard
office, where one recruiter was said to be selling cocaine from the
trunk of his recruiting vehicle.
Together, these dozen or so recruiters formed the nucleus of one of the
FBI's biggest public corruption cases, the sting known as *Operation
Lively Green*, which unfolded in Southern Arizona from 2002-2004 and was
made public last year.

Many of the drug-running recruiters remained on the job, with continued
access to local schools, for months --- and often, years --- after FBI
agents secretly filmed them counting cash next to stacks of cocaine
bricks, the Arizona Daily Star found in a months-long probe of court
records and military employment data.
_Some were still recruiting three years after they first were caught on
camera running drugs in uniform_. Most have pleaded guilty and are to be
sentenced in March. Some honorably retired from the military.
There is no suggestion in court records that the recruiters were
providing drugs to students.
What they did between FBI drug runs isn't known because they weren't
under constant surveillance, the FBI said. For example, in the middle of
the cocaine sting, one of the recruiters was arrested by another
law-enforcement agency in an unrelated drug case, accused of
transporting nearly 200 pounds of marijuana on Interstate 19, court
records show.
Military recruiting officials say the corruption was not widespread.
They also say they kept these recruiters on the job because they either
didn't know they were under investigation, or were told by the FBI to
leave the suspects alone so as not to jeopardize the sting's outcome.
Some Tucson parents and school officials, contacted by the Star about
the results of the paper's research, said students should not have been
left exposed for so long to recruiters known by the FBI to be involved
in cocaine-running.

I don't like the thought of someone involved with drugs having access
to my child, and I don't know anything about it and the school doesn't
know anything about it, said Kathy Janssen, who has a 15-year-old son
at Tucson High Magnet School, the city's largest high school. High
school students are very vulnerable.
This isn't the first time the FBI has come under criticism in the Lively
Green case. Allegations of sexual misconduct by undercover informants
also have dogged the case and could result in reduced punishment for the
recruiters and dozens of other defendants.

* *
*SCHOOLS *
At a press conference to unveil the case last year, the FBI announced
that many Lively Green defendants were military members. Agents didn't
say that recruiters were involved.
A Phoenix-based FBI spokeswoman said the agency can't say much at this
point about the Lively Green probe because it's still in progress.
Special Agent Deb McCarley did say the FBI generally performs risk
assessments before deciding to keep suspects who work in public
positions on the job during undercover probes.
We recognize the range of ethical issues that inherently arise in the
course of our undercover investigations, McCarley said in an e-mail.
We have sound policies in place to address such dilemmas, she said,
and this case has been no exception.
Some high schools in Tucson Unified, Flowing Wells Unified and Marana
Unified school districts, and in Amphitheater Public Schools, were
visited by one or more of these recruiters on a regular or occasional
basis, according to military recruiting officials. Schools in other
districts may have had visits as well, but precise records no longer are
available in some cases, officials said.
One TUSD Governing Board member was incensed to hear the recruiters
remained on the job so long.
It's ludicrous to me that the FBI would leave these people in place and
allow them onto our high school campuses, Judy Burns said.
If they were going to do that, they should have been monitoring them
constantly.

Monica Young, who has two children attending TUSD high schools, agreed.
It is appalling that recruiters who were known to be involved in such
activity were allowed on any school campus, she said.
Legal expert Stephen Saltzburg, who teaches criminal procedure at George
Washington University, said it's entirely possible that the Tucson
recruiters were running

Vidal and the McVeigh Execution
On May 5, 2001, Gore Vidal announced that he would attend Timothy McVeigh's
execution in Indiana and write a piece about it for Vanity Fair. As it turned
out, Vidal did not attend the execution because he didn't have enough time to
get to the U.S. from Italy after McVeigh - on Friday, June 8 - abruptly ended
his appeals, thus allowing the June 11 execution to take place. Most observers
thought McVeigh would get a stay as his appeals worked their way through the
courts.

For people interested in this issue as it relates to Vidal, I've put together a
list of links to stories I've found on the web. Needless to say, if a site
takes down its story, then the link will no longer be good.

Vidal and McVeigh made contact after Vidal wrote a piece on the drug war and
the loss of freedom in America for Vanity Fair in November 1998. Vidal's
post-execution piece on McVeigh - which includes excerpts from their
correspondence - appears in the September 2001 issue of the magazine. And
Vidal's book on the World Trade Center attack has more material about his
relationship with McVeigh.

Many of the stories that appeared about Vidal's involvement with McVeigh has
since been take off the internet (as older stories often are). Here, though,
are some links to pieces that remain:

The online magazine Salon published this story about Vidal's contact with
McVeigh.

Writer Justin Raimondo defends Vidal in an essay on antwar.com.

Here's a reprint of a Washington Post article on the subject.

A story on the BBC's web site depicts an execution chamber along with photos
of Vidal and McVeigh.

This report appeared in the Brisith newspaper The Guardian

USA Today published a story on Vidal and McVeigh

The liberal web site Fantastic Forum supports Vidal in his efforts to explain
McVeigh (this will open as a PDF file in a new window).

Vidal defends McVeigh at the Edinburgh Book Festival, as reported in The
Guardian. Or you can read the actual interview from the festival.

The Russian newspaper Pravda ran this piece in English about Vidal and
McVeigh.

This Reuters story shares Vidal's view that McVeigh had help in doing what he
did.

In this piece, Vidal casts McVeigh as a hero, the author says, not quite
accurately.

On a related matter, here is a list of articles that examine Vidal's views on
the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

  Justice Denied

  December 18, 2006

Today in the courtroom of Judge Curtis J. Bell, 1400 Gull Rd. Kalamazoo,
Michigan, Justice was once again denied a disabled American Veteran. Gordon
Sutton was in Court seeking a reduction in the amount of alimony the Court had
ordered him to pay. Despite evidence provided the Court by Gordon, U.S. Code
Title 38 5301(a) which covers VA disability, U.S.Code Title 42 which covers SSI
disability, and U.S. Code 10, Section 1408. (U.S.Code Title 10 prohibits any
treatment of disability pay as disposable pay and the courts cannot work
around this prohibition by allocating other assets to make up for the lost
disability pay.) This Judge found no reason to reverse his earlier ruling and
told Gordon his only recourse is the Appeals Court. The Judge stated he did not
base alimony on Gordon's VA and SSI disability but based it on Gordon's ability
to pay. This case and many others like it across this Nation points out just
how out of touch Judges are with the people and the Law.

The violation of Federal U.S. Code by State Judges must end. Every Veteran
who has had their alimony assessed using VA and SSI Disability must join
together and fight this. If your alimony was based on your ability to pay, the
Judge violated the law and is using semantics to get around it. This is your
disability earned with sweat and blood and should never go to someone who was
not there while it was earned

Gordon contacted the State of Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission with a
request for an investigation of Justice Curtis J. Bell for violation of Title
38 United States Code. This was their reply:

  Dear Mr. Sutton:

The Judicial Tenure Commission has completed the investigation conducted
at your request. The Commission's jurisdiction is limited to determining
whether there is evidence of judicial misconduct, as that term is defined by
law. The Commission has determined that there is no basis for commencing
formal disciplinary proceedings or taking any other action. Accordingly, the
file in this matter has been closed. Thank you for bringing this matter to the
Commission's attention.

  Sincerely,

   Paul J. Fischer
   Executive Director and General Counsel

What this is means is that Gordon complained about a fox being in the hen
house in Kalamazoo and the higher ranking foxes in Lansing, Michigan told him
he was imagining things.

Tomorrow, 12/19/06, Calvin Murphy will appear in a courtroom in Manistee,
Michigan about this same issue. Go to this link

story.

As far as an attempt on Bush on the morning of 911 - if that were the
case, then how the fuck could the secret service let him sit there
like a bump on a log for a good half hour while planes were flying
all over bumblefuck without a flight plan? Wouldn't they have rushed
him off to safety? Wouldn't the attempt on his life come across as a

Well, the end game was this: Flight 93 was to land on the Whitehouse. You see,

  War Signals?
  by Dave Lindorff

As reports circulate of a sharp debate within the White House over
possible US military action against Iran and its nuclear enrichment facilities,
The Nation has learned that the Bush Administration and the Pentagon have
issued orders for a major strike group of ships, including the nuclear
aircraft carrier Eisenhower as well as a cruiser, destroyer, frigate, submarine
escort and supply ship, to head for the Persian Gulf, just off Iran's western
coast. This information follows a report in the current issue of Time magazine,
both online and in print, that a group of ships capable of mining harbors has
received orders to be ready to sail for the Persian Gulf by October 1.

As Time writes in its cover story, What Would War Look Like?, evidence
of the forward deployment of minesweepers and word that the chief of naval
operations had asked for a reworking of old plans for mining Iranian harbors
suggest that a much discussed--but until now largely theoretical--prospect has
become real: that the U.S. may be preparing for war with Iran.

According to Lieut. Mike Kafka, a spokesman at the headquarters of the
Second Fleet, based in Norfolk, Virginia, the Eisenhower Strike Group,
bristling with Tomahawk cruise missiles, has received recent orders to depart
the United States in a little over a week. Other official sources in the public
affairs office of the Navy Department at the Pentagon confirm that this
powerful armada is scheduled to arrive off the coast of Iran on or around
October 21.

The Eisenhower had been in port at the Naval Station Norfolk for several
years for refurbishing and refueling of its nuclear reactor; it had not been
scheduled to depart for a new duty station until at least a month later, and
possibly not till next spring. Family members, before the orders, had moved
into the area and had until then expected to be with their sailor-spouses and
parents in Virginia for some time yet. First word of the early dispatch of the
Ike Strike group to the Persian Gulf region came from several angry officers
on the ships involved, who contacted antiwar critics like retired Air Force
Col. Sam Gardiner and complained that they were being sent to attack Iran
without any order from the Congress.

This is very serious, said Ray McGovern, a former CIA threat-assessment
analyst who got early word of the Navy officers' complaints about the sudden
deployment orders. (McGovern, a twenty-seven-year veteran of the CIA, resigned
in 2002 in protest over what he said were Bush Administration pressures to
exaggerate the threat posed by Iraq. He and other intelligence agency critics
have formed a group called Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity.)

Colonel Gardiner, who has taught military strategy at the National War
College, says that the carrier deployment and a scheduled Persian Gulf arrival
date of October 21 is very important evidence of war planning. He says, I
know that some naval forces have already received 'prepare to deploy orders'
[PTDOs], which have set the date for being ready to go as October 1. Given that
it would take about from October 2 to October 21 to get those forces to the
Gulf region, that looks about like the date of any possible military action
against Iran. (A PTDO means that all crews should be at their stations, and
ships and planes should be ready to go, by a certain date--in this case,
reportedly, October 1.) Gardiner notes, You cannot issue a PTDO and then stay
ready for very long. It's a very significant order, and it's not done as a
training exercise. This point was also made in the Time article.

So what is the White House planning?

On Monday President Bush addressed the UN General Assembly at its opening
session, and while studiously avoiding even physically meeting Iran's President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was also addressing the body, he offered a two-pronged
message. Bush told the people of Iran that we're working toward a diplomatic
solution to this crisis and that he looked forward to the day when you can
live in freedom. But he also warned that Iran's leaders were using the
nation's resources to fund terrorism and fuel extremism and pursue nuclear
weapons. Given the President's assertion that the nation is fighting a global
war on terror and that he is Commander in Chief of that war, his prominent
linking of the Iran regime with terror has to be seen as a deliberate effort to
claim his right to carry the fight there. Bush has repeatedly insisted that the
2001 Congressional Authorization for the Use of Force that preceded the
invasion of Afghanistan was also an authorization for an unending war on
terror.

Even as Bush was making not-so-veiled threats at the UN, his former
Secretary of State, Colin Powell, a sharp critic of any unilateral US attack on

i too was/am puzzled about why bush didn't make pr hay out of the
assassination attempt. the only answer i've been able to come up with
is that the attack was so almost completely successful in decimating
the constitutional line of succession that bush et co were scared
 shitless.
also, sorry, but to think the massoud hit was anything other than an
attack by his chief enemy seems to me to be ridiculous.

VMANN: well, it was curiously timed, was it not?
they could have whacked massoud any old time. why right before we would
need them on our side?

in re al qaeda and the cia: one of two things is the case. either a)
someone in the whitehouse picked up a phone and said, hey, big o!
what it is! we need a little help!
 or:
 b) knowing the u.s. had already begun to insert spec forces into
afghanistan in the summer of 2001, as revealed by woodward in his
first book after 9/11, they struck first.

VMANN: wouldnt that be counter productive, though? why provide the New
Pearl Harbor?

since im no more privy to the answer to that than anyone else, i
prefer b, for many reasons. 1 occam's razor. 2. extraordinary claims
require extraordinary proof. 3. it makes a hell of a lot more sense.
i don't know about the terror drills. i DO know that, contrary to
ruppert's nattering, it was NOT NORAD but the FAA which dropped the
ball. also, pre-9/11, the FAA routinely protected the hijackers, or
rather, they protected the op they were participating in.

VMANN: why do you say it was the FAA, and not NORAD, that dropped the
ball? this seems to be contraticted in griffin's analysis of the
Commission Report. the Report wants to put it all on the FAA.

finally, there seems to be quite a lack of rigorous thought in some
of the other questions here. IF there was something amiss in the
collapse of the buildings, THEN the first scientists to be all over
it would not be red state dickwads from texas tech and utah state,
but from schools so affected, say, colombia, that they couldn't be
silenced, or from blue states that really hate bush, say, at harvard.

VMANN: WHAT!?
first of all, if the dickwad in question is from a Red State or is a Red
State Type then what he says is more like a statement against interest.

secondly, HARVARD!? are you kidding me? perhaps kris could send you his

be more likely to be in the loop than bush himself was vis a vis the 9/11

as for rodriguez, tarpley, etc: i again point to the logical
assertion that we are dealing with an EITHER/OR proposition. and
since, in the five fucking years since 9/11, there has been not a
SHRED of real evidence to the contrary, i again assert that the 9/11
truth movement is disinformation designed to lead questioning away
from certain obvious and highly inconvenient facts about the heroin
trafficking the americans who were housing atta were at that same
 time involved in.
if that's not a big enough or dirty enough conspiracy for you,
then by all means continue nattering on. daniel

VMANN: im going to have to continue nattering on.
1: why are you positing the EITHER/OR proposition? either there were saudi
hijackers OR there was government complicity? werent the alleged hijackers
themselves government agents? where they not running dope for the CIA?
trained at pensacola naval air station? etc?
2: there is not a SHRED of evidence to the contrary of WHAT? to the
contrary that there was government complicity? i disagree, there seems to
be abundant evidence. or evidence to the contrary that 9/11 investigators
are trying to lead away from the Neo-Iran/Contra Narcotics Angle? I
disagree with that as well. both griffin and tarpley reference it. dunno
if nafeez mossodeq ahmed does, as im not done with his book yet.

USA Planning Persian Gulf Build-Up As Warning To Iran
Tue Dec 19 2006 10:02:07 ET

The Pentagon is planning a major buildup of Naval forces in and around the
Persian Gulf as a warning to Iran, it was reported last night.

MORE.

The buildup, which would included a ago second aircraft carrier to the one
already there is being proposed as a response to what US officials view as
increasingly provocative acts by Iran, David Martin reported on CBS EVENING
NEWS.

Recent Iranian naval exercises in the Persian Gulf, support for Shiite militias
in Iraq, and its nuclear enrichment program which US intelligence believes is
designed to produce a bomb. CBS added, Military officers say the buildup
would take place after the first of the year, not to actually attack Iran but
to discourage its leaders from spreading their Shiite revolution.

KEVIN BARRETT ON FOX NEWS TONIGHT

Kevin Barrett, who stood up to neocon talking head Sean Hannity, will
be on the Bill O'Reilly Show tonight. O'Reilly made a threatening
comment about Kevin saying he should have been fired from his
position, and would have been thrown in the Charles River if he taught
at Boston College, O'Reilly's alma mater. So tune in tonight on FOX

FIRST RESPONDERS STILL WAITING

There's an important article in today's NY Times saying the $40
million allotted for monitoring and treatment of 9/11 First Responders
will run out soon. There's a report saying another $276 million is
needed soon. You can read it at www.nytimes.com.

BIG WEEKEND FOR 9/11 TRUTH

Commemorations of the Boston Tea Party which launched the American
Revolution took place this past weekend in Boston, Philadelphia,
Washington, DC, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and San Francisco! These events
began with plans by 3 Massachussetts groups of 9/11 truth activists,
then spread across the nation in a matter of weeks. This goes to show
how a good idea backed by dedicated planning and hard work by talented
people can create a historic series of events, provide education and
organizational value, and get media attention for the cause. The event
in Boston resulted in a great photo with caption in the Boston Globe.
The event in San Francisco was covered by their local CBS news
station. See some coverage, photos and links at www.ny911truth.org.

Below is the Proclamation handed out at the Boston event which I urge
all to read and distribute to your lists. A PDF is available on our
site.

Did the 9/11 Commission cover-up government involvement in 9-11-01?

Citizens of the United States of America, sisters and brothers of the
six New England States, and all honorable servants of our great
Republic — the Day of Reckoning is upon us. The lies and deception of
the tyrannical elite within our government, especially regarding the
misleading 9/11 Commission investigation and cover-up of the
devastating attacks of September 11, 200 J, have infected our beloved
democratic process and usurped our liberties for far too long. The
Executive, Judiciary and US Congress are hereby advised that the
citizenry of these United States holds an uncompromising DEMAND for:

An exhaustive reinvestigation of ALL SCIENTIFIC THEORIES and
testimonies as they relate to the physical destruction of life and
property inflicted during the attacks on 9/11;

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed to investigate numerous Air Force
war games conducted on September 11, 2001 that severely crippled our
normally highly competent FAA/Air National Guard team's aircraft
interception capability.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed to investigate or even mention the
collapse of the 47-story World Trade Center Tower 7. It is highly
suspicious that WTC7 is the first steel framed high-rise in history to
collapse from small fires alone.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission lied in stating that the center of World
Trade Center Towers 1 and 2 contained only air ducting and elevators.
In reality the center of the towers each contained 47 massive,
vertical steel support columns, which were the core supports for these
towers.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed to investigate the fact that the
three tower collapses on 9-11-01 each exhibited eleven classic
characteristics of well-engineered building demolitions.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed to investigate and explain how the
Pentagon, the most-guarded airspace on the planet, with its own
missile defense system, was penetrated on 9-11-01.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed to investigate members of the
Administration who posted their radical military plan in September
2000. This plan stated that their goals would not be met unless a
cataclysmic event occurred, like a new Pearl Harbor, to get US
citizens on-board with their ruthless agenda.

Whereas, the 9/11 Commission failed in its original mandate. Over 100
other questions, omissions, inconsistencies and im plausible
scenarios constitute gross malfeasance in its obligation to the 9/11
victims' families to conduct a thorough investigation.

We, the people of the United States of America, today, in Boston, on
the sixteenth day of December in the year two thousand and six, do
hereby REJECT the findings contained in the Report of the
Kean-Hamilton Commission to Investigate Terrorist Attacks Upon the
United States, and, therefore, DEMAND an IMMEDIATE, New and

Mosquitoes May Become Our Allies

By Catherine Clabby

Without mosquitoes, epidemics of dengue fever and malaria could not plague this
planet.

The skin-piercing insects infect one person after another while dining on a
favorite meal: human blood.

Eliminating the pests appears impossible. But scientists are attempting to
re-engineer them so they cannot carry disease. If they manage that, they must
create enough mutants to mate with wild insects and one day to outnumber them.

Researchers chasing this dream, including an N.C. State University
entomologist, know they may court controversy. Genetically modified crop plants
such as soybeans and corn have become common in the United States, but an
altered organism on wings would be a first.

Critics of bio-engineering, especially in Europe, view some genetic alterations
as unnatural, even monstrous. People fearful of so-called Frankenfood could
sound similar alarms over Frankenbugs.

But with advances in molecular biology and millions of dollars from the Bill
Melinda Gates Foundation, this quest may be within reach. And its promise is
huge, the scientists say.

We're looking at a timeline. But this is coming, said Fred Gould, the NCSU
insect expert.

Gould is working on the project with scientists on four continents. They landed
$19.7 million under a Grand Challenges in Global Health grant offered by the
Gates philanthropy and a National Institutes of Health foundation. The funders
selected researchers ready to collaborate rather than compete on risky research
aimed at solving massive health threats in poor places.

The genetic tinkering is focused at first on dengue, a tropical virus
re-emerging in Asia, Latin America and Africa. While dengue claims a fraction
of the million or more victims that malaria kills annually, it strikes 50 to
100 million people each year with severe flu symptoms. Outbreaks disrupt
families and communities and overburden health systems.

Dengue is a good starting point because it is transmitted almost exclusively by
a single mosquito species (the smallish, striped- legged Aedes aegypti) while
the malaria parasite is carried by several. Focusing the effort on just one bug
simplifies the science.

To try to build a less dangerous Aedes aegypti, scientists broke a huge job
into smaller chunks. First, they needed a means to make female mosquitoes
immune to dengue. Only females drink blood (males prefer nectar), and only
insects infected with dengue can spread it.

A breakthrough this year at Colorado State University may help. Molecular
biologists there stitched laboratory-made DNA into Aedes aegypti that blocks
dengue from reproducing in a bug's gut. That stops dengue from getting into
mosquito saliva, which deposits the virus into human bloodstreams.

As important, the change sticks. Bugs pass the trait to their offspring.

Things keep bearing fruit. So far, so good, said Anthony James, a biologist
at the University of California Irvine, the lead investigator for the mosquito
project.

But inserting strings of DNA into laboratory mosquitoes and spreading them in
the wild are two different things.

Scientists must convince the government and people of any country they approach
that mutant bugs will fight disease without risk to people or the environment,
said Sujatha Byravan, president of the Council for Responsible Genetics.

Scientists are trying to harness exotic genes to help slip dengue- fighting DNA
into many offspring quickly. One way: piggyback onto so- called selfish genes
-- unusual stretches of DNA that perform no duties other than tending to their
own survival.

Whichever strategy gets picked will require a customized release plan. And it
will likely carry a cost. Organisms absorbing altered DNA often take a fitness
hit, meaning an altered mosquito may fly slower, weigh less or be less
successful finding a mate.

Gould and his team aren't engineering insects. They are predicting each
strategy's success at passing dengue immunity to future generations. Is it best
to release many in a small place or fewer over a neighborhood?

Both jobs require a mix of high-level mathematics and big computing power. But
just as important is detailed knowledge of the life cycles and mating habits of
Aedes aegypti.

Dengue mosquitoes often are born, live and die in or near a home. They prefer
dwellings with no running water, where they can lay eggs in containers people
use for cooking, bathing and cleaning. The bugs tend to bite during the day, so
mosquito netting over beds offers little protection.

Understanding the life cycles of the insects will give Gould's group clues on
how to infiltrate an entire mosquito population quickly and at a reasonable
cost.

We want to determine what's the most efficient way to use the fewest
mosquitoes to get this

Iraq Special Inspector Exposes Fraud, Gets Fired By Congress
Jacob Hornberger's Commentary

Tuesday, December 19, 2006 -- Stuart W. Bowen should be grateful. He's the
special inspector who was exposing fraud in federal contracts in Iraq.
Consequently, Congress terminated his job.

So, why should Bowen be thanking his lucky stars? Because he got off light
compared to Donald Vance, a 29-year-old American who went to Iraq as a security
contractor. No doubt a bit naïve due to his age, Vance began reporting
suspicious activity to the FBI about possible illegal weapons trading in the
Iraqi security firm he was working with, including a steady flow of weapons to
the Iraqi Interior Ministry, which has been tied to death squads in Iraq.

When the firm was raided, at Vance's urging, Vance learned the hazards of being
a whistleblower. He got taken into custody and was imprisoned in one of the
U.S. military's infamous detention centers in Iraq. Spending 97 days in that
hellhole, his confinement appears to be eerily similar to that of another
American imprisoned by the Pentagon - Jose Padilla. According to the New York
Times:

American guards arrived at the man's cell periodically over the next several
days, shackled his hands and feet, blindfolded him and took him to a padded
room for interrogation, the detainee said. After an hour or two, he was
returned to his cell, fatigued but unable to sleep. The fluorescent lights in
his cell were never turned off, he said. At most hours, heavy metal or country
music blared in the corridor. He said he was rousted at random times without
explanation and made to stand in his cell. Even lying down, he said, he was
kept from covering his face to block out the light, noise and cold. And when he
was released after 97 days he was exhausted, depressed and scared.

Vance's request to talk to a lawyer, one of the principal tenets of America's
criminal justice system, was rebuffed by U.S. military authorities. After all,
he was in Iraq, where that pesky U.S. Constitution isn't operative.

Giving the same response that they have in the Padilla case, a spokeswoman for
the Pentagon's detentions operations in Iraq, a first-lieutenant named Lea Ann
Fracasso, said that Vance was treated fair and humanely.

The sad part of this is the distinct possibility that Fracasso, along with her
Pentagon cohorts, really and truly believes this. One day, Vance wrote in his
Bible: Sick, very. Vomited. Told no more phone calls til leave. Yesterday, the
federal judge in the Padilla case ordered an official examination into
Padilla's mental competency, given Padilla's apparently having been subjected
to the same type of mental torture that American GIs were subjected to by the
North Korean communists during the Korean War.

I've said it before but it bears repeating: Heaven forbid that the American
people ever permit the U.S. military to import to America the type of freedom
and humaneness it has brought to the Iraqi people. But that's certainly the
direction our nation continues to head in, thanks to the horrible fear of the
terrorists that 9/11 engendered in American adults. Just ask Jose Padilla and
Donald Vance.

[cia-drugs] Paramilitary Ties Implicate Colombia's Political Elite

Paramilitary Ties Implicate Colombia's Political Elite

By Juan Forero
Washington Post Foreign Service
Tuesday, December 19, 2006; Page A01

BOGOTA, Colombia, Dec. 18 -- In what has been heralded as a decisive moment in
Colombia's shadowy, decades-long conflict, a powerful paramilitary commander is
to appear in a special court Tuesday to account for crimes that include
massacres and assassinations. Salvatore Mancuso's testimony will be the first
by a top death-squad leader in a Colombian courtroom, and it is being touted by
the administration of President Álvaro Uribe as evidence that the wheels of
justice are turning.

Rather than rejoicing, however, the Uribe government has found itself in the
awkward position of being implicated in the wrongdoing. Over the past several
weeks, Colombians have been gripped by revelations of ties between paramilitary
fighters and several congressmen close to the president, as well as some
officials in his administration. The scandal now threatens to unravel his
authority.

Uribe won reelection in May after cultivating his reputation as a workaholic
technocrat -- someone who would be relentless against corruption and illegal
armed groups. But lately, he has joined a cast of lawmakers, intelligence
service operatives and mid-level government bureaucrats in publicly denying
ties to the paramilitary groups, which for a generation the military used as a
proxy force to battle guerrillas.

The government's smokescreen is becoming transparent, said Venus Albeiro
Silva, a congressman from the left-leaning Alternative Democratic Pole party.
What's happening now is they cannot put the lid on this. That's why we're
telling the president to come out and say the truth.

Repeated requests for an interview with Uribe went unanswered. But Vice
President Francisco Santos said in an interview that the administration fully
supports the investigations into ties with the paramilitary umbrella
organization known as the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, known by its
Spanish initials, AUC.

The government has said this has to go as deep as it needs to go, he said.
But he added, We're seeing the whole iceberg here.

So far, investigators from the Supreme Court and the attorney general's office
have revealed case after case that not only expose friendly ties between
officials and paramilitary fighters but also detail how lawmakers and others
helped the fighters expand their hold over northern Colombia, liquidating
opponents in the process.

Since three congressmen were jailed last month for collaborating with
paramilitary groups, investigators have opened official probes into six more
members of Congress and three former lawmakers. The most prominent is Sen.
Álvaro Araújo, whose sister, Maria Consuelo Araújo, is the country's foreign
minister. The senator has even admitted meeting with Rodrigo Tovar, a
paramilitary commander who prosecutors say has been running a drug-trafficking
group while negotiating with the government.

Another senator, Miguel de la Espriella, publicly detailed how he and dozens of
other lawmakers met with paramilitary commanders in 2001. At the meeting, they
signed a pact cementing an alliance designed to lead to disarmament
negotiations, which death squad commanders hoped would help them avoid
extradition to the United States on drug charges and hold on to land and other
possessions. The talks began after Uribe won office in 2002.

The interests of these men is personal, that they don't lose property and that
they don't get extradited, said José Mejia, a former political officer in
Tovar's paramilitary group who gave up his weapons this year. What they're
looking for is that they don't get tried for massacres and narco-trafficking.

The developments involving congressmen follow disclosures that a string of
officials in the Uribe administration -- among them the former head of the
intelligence service, the former head of the rural development agency and the
former ambassador to Chile -- helped paramilitary groups by giving them
classified information while orchestrating the takeover of land and the murder
of the group's enemies.

The government has also come under withering criticism for moving too slowly to
bring paramilitary fighters to justice, although the groups began disarming in
2003.

The government says 2,700 paramilitary commanders should be tried for
atrocities, but the attorney general's office says administration officials
have fully identified only 400. And although Mancuso agreed to talk to
prosecutors, dozens of other top commanders have balked, threatening to
paralyze the process.

Maria McFarland, of New York-based Human Rights Watch, said the system set up
to investigate paramilitary fighters puts the burden on prosecutors, not
defendants.

So far, the government hasn't gotten the paramilitaries to fulfill their

Dollar has fallen, when is gold-Dinar coming

  Dzikrullah W Pramudya

  19-Dec-06

THE veteran Samurai of capitalism has acknowledged his sword is no longer
sharp enough to rule the world. Last week, former US Federal Reserve chairman
Alan Greenspan said he expected the dollar to stay weak for the next few years
and will continue to drift down, weighed by the US balance of payments deficit.

``I expect that the dollar will continue to drift downwards until there
will be a change in the US balance of payments,`` Greenspan told a business
conference via video-link from the United States to Israel. He said markets
were so sophisticated it was very difficult to forecast the short term
direction of the dollar.

He also noticed that Opec nations were switching their reserves out of
dollars and into euro and yen. ``It is imprudent to hold everything in one
currency,`` he said, adding that at some point the dollar will be moving lower.

What Greenspan failed to acknowledge was, in fact, that for such a long
time it had been an imprudent act to hold anything in any conventional
currency, any fiat money - which is the paper money that is made legal and
valued by the law. Dollar, Euro, Franc, Mark, Poundsterling, Rupee, Ringgit,
Peso, Rupiah, Bath - none are backed by a real value. Fiat money has no
intrinsic value, as opposed to commodity money such as gold-Dinar.

If tomorrow, for any reason, the US government declares its intention to
devaluate US$100 notes into US$10, then billions of people would not be able to
do anything but submit and accept the `reality' that in the next 24 hours they
would be much poorer.

No such threat with regard to gold-Dinar. Even if all governments under
the sun declare that gold is valueless, not many people would even blink. Gold
is gold, and people will always appreciate it as something highly precious.

The value of a 22-carrat gold-Dinar coin during the time of the Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) more than 1400 years ago was exactly the same with its value
today. Burn a piece of gold or melt it, its value would remain. Try to burn a
bagful of US$ banknotes and use the charred remnants to buy a plate of rice. A
burnt piece of fiat money is useless. Worse, you do not even need to burn fiat
money to render it useless. All you need to do is save it in a bank and never
touch it; after several years, the value of your money would certainly drop. In
fact, the dollar value has kept sliding downwards against gold since 1970s up
until today.

Many people think that it is the nature of money, and that inflation is
to blame. But pressure groups in the US such as Fame (Foundation of the
Advancement of Monetary Education) or Gata(Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee)
have different thoughts. They are speaking out against the fiat money-based
monetary system. ``Because of material misrepresentations and nondisclosure
regarding our fiat dollar, it is prima facie fraudulent,`` stated Lawrence
Parks, Executive Director of Fame.

Both organisations have long pursued a Congressional reform in monetary
system. According to the Fame fact sheet, the Congress has improperly delegated
to the US banking system a power that the Congress does not have under the US
Constitution: the power to create
legal-tender-irredeemable-paperticket/electronic-fiat-token money out of
nothing.

Since 1946, on a base of about US$150 billion, the U.S. banking system
has created US$9.4 trillions up to 2005. About US$ 700 billion was created by
the Federal Reserve, and the balance, about US$8.7 trillion, was created by
private companies, banks. ``Why should private companies be empowered to create
money?`` asked Parks.

We will let the Americans respond to the confusion that has influenced
the world economy through their fiat money system. This article will focus on a
solution, namely the commodity money. In this case, the gold-Dinar currency, is
a solution.

Many people in Southeast Asia region would usually see the gold-Dinar
issue as political, launched in 2003 by then-Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir
Mohammad. In fact, Mahathir had been responding to the issue a long time after
it was first raised by many Muslims. Mahathir stated that Malaysia would take
the initiative to overhaul the international financial system, by establishing
gold-Dinar as an alternative currency.

He criticised the current financial system as one that that was ``skewed
toward rich countries and speculators``. He also stated that Malaysia would
exert efforts to use the gold-Dinar for its trade with Iran for starter. If the
initiative proved to be successful, Malaysia would extend it to cover 32
countries having bilateral payment arrangements (BPA) with Malaysia.

Now, the dollar has fallen. Why hasn't the gold-Dinar emerged yet, the
way

The War in Iraq: It's All About the Dollar
Some clips to ponder:
If this measure is implemented it could have very grave consequences for the
American economy. As early as September 2005 Aljazeera published an article on
its website that Iran was about to begin pricing its oil in euros. According
this article just about everyone would benefit, except the United States. For
at least fifty years about 70 % of all currency reserves were in American
dollars. This made the dollar the strongest currency on earth. Central banks
need to have important reserves in dollars because up until now oil, the most
important commodity of the world, is mostly priced in dollars. Since the
irresponsible policies of the current American administration have allowed
America's national debt to rise to crippling heights, its ailing economy became
mostly dependent upon the high demand for its currency. Or, to put it simply,
the dollar may no longer be exchangeable for gold but it can be exchanged for
oil. Since the demand for oil increases steadily and the price of oil also
increases, the dollar is a safe bet. Until now, that is.

  [snip]

The adoption of the euro for oil transactions will provide the European
currency with a reserve status that will benefit the Europeans at the expense
of the Americans. On September 2, 2005 the Global Politician quoted an expert
stating One of the Federal Reserve's nightmares may begin to unfold when it
appears that international buyers will have a choice of buying a barrel of oil
for $60 on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) and IPE (London's
International Petroleum Exchange) or purchase a barrel of oil for ?45 to ?50
via an alternative Iranian bourse. In this scenario an already-existent global
trend of shifting foreign currency reserves from dollars to euros would
accelerate, thus strengthening the euro and weakening the dollar on the
international market. Imports would start to cost America so much more that its
economy would not be able to cope anymore and the stock market bubble would
burst.

  [snip]

But is it likely to happen? Well, it has happened before it seems. In 2000
Saddam Houssein demanded euros for Iraq's oil. At first he wasn't taken all to
seriously but when it became clear that he meant business, political pressure
was exerted to change his mind. Other oil producing countries began to voice
their intent to accept payments in euros or yen. So, when Bush and his cabal of
neocons invaded Iraq, why exactly were they doing this? Because of Saddam's
long defunct pipe-dream of weapons of mass destruction? Was it about spreading
democracy? Indignation about an inhuman regime? Or was it about defending the
American dollar and sending a clear message to other countries that a
superpower would not tolerate its super-currency flouted. Some have argued that
Bush started the war to seize Iraq's oilfields. But why would he want to?
Strangely enough: as long as the dollar is backed by oil, America can print as
many dollars as it wants and... buy oil with them. Defending the dollar as the
unique oil-currency is infinitely more important than seizing the oil itself.
And look what happened: barely two months after the United States invaded Iraq,
the Oil for Food Program was terminated and the Iraqi euro accounts were
switched back to dollars. Global dollar supremacy was once again restored. That
was the real mission that was accomplished.

That is also the reason neocons aren't too worried about the way the war in
Iraq is going. As far as they are concerned it may drag on for another twenty
years and cost tens of thousands of American lives as long as the supremacy of
the dollar is maintained. For the neocons and their conspiracy for a New
American Century this is the basis of all that they are trying to accomplish.
This is what Krassimir Petrov in the Energy Bulletin has to say about it: A
nation-state taxes its own citizens, while an empire taxes other nation-states.
The history of empires, from Greek and Roman, to Ottoman and British, teaches
that the economic foundation of every single empire is the taxation of other
nations. (...) Historically, imperial taxation has always been direct: the
subject state handed over the economic goods directly to the empire. For the
first time in history, in the twentieth century, America was able to tax the
world indirectly, through inflation. It did not enforce the direct payment of
taxes like all of its predecessor empires did, but distributed instead its own
fiat currency, the U.S. Dollar, to other nations in exchange for goods with the
intended consequence of inflating and devaluing those dollars and paying back
later each dollar with less economic goods-the difference capturing the U.S.
imperial tax.

The immediate question is whether the neocons will attempt to intervene

 Vidal and the McVeigh Execution
On May 5, 2001, Gore Vidal announced that he would attend Timothy
McVeigh's execution in Indiana and write a piece about it for Vanity
Fair. As it turned out, Vidal did not attend the execution because he
didn't have enough time to get to the U.S. from Italy after McVeigh -
on Friday, June 8 - abruptly ended his appeals, thus allowing the
June 11 execution to take place. Most observers thought McVeigh would
get a stay as his appeals worked their way through the courts.

For people interested in this issue as it relates to Vidal, I've
put together a list of links to stories I've found on the web.
Needless to say, if a site takes down its story, then the link will
no longer be good.

Vidal and McVeigh made contact after Vidal wrote a piece on the
drug war and the loss of freedom in America for Vanity Fair in
November 1998. Vidal's post-execution piece on McVeigh - which
includes excerpts from their correspondence - appears in the
September 2001 issue of the magazine. And Vidal's book on the World
Trade Center attack has more material about his relationship with
McVeigh.

Many of the stories that appeared about Vidal's involvement with
McVeigh has since been take off the internet (as older stories often
are). Here, though, are some links to pieces that remain:

The online magazine Salon published this story about Vidal's
contact with McVeigh.

Writer Justin Raimondo defends Vidal in an essay on antwar.com.

Here's a reprint of a Washington Post article on the subject.

A story on the BBC's web site depicts an execution chamber along
with photos of Vidal and McVeigh.

This report appeared in the Brisith newspaper The Guardian

USA Today published a story on Vidal and McVeigh

The liberal web site Fantastic Forum supports Vidal in his efforts
to explain McVeigh (this will open as a PDF file in a new window).

Vidal defends McVeigh at the Edinburgh Book Festival, as reported
in The Guardian. Or you can read the actual interview from the
festival.

The Russian newspaper Pravda ran this piece in English about Vidal
and McVeigh.

This Reuters story shares Vidal's view that McVeigh had help in
doing what he did.

In this piece, Vidal casts McVeigh as a hero, the author says, not
quite accurately.

On a related matter, here is a list of articles that examine
Vidal's views on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World
Trade Center.

I read not long ago, I believe on the web site, where the New World Order
(The Bilderberg Group) (see web search) was preparing to devaluate the dollar
about 40%. That means that more people would not have as much money, thereby
causeing caos in the street and a shortage of money. why? that is for you to
figure out. The spend and borrow system of this administration and and will
have a huge impact on our economy, regardless if they get the North Atlantic
Union through or not. It also could be how they get it through. That is left up

This Report addresses reasons behind the Illuminati’s efforts to
drive
down the value of the US Dollar.

MANIPULATION OF US DOLLAR

For the past few years, the value of the US Dollar has been declining
in comparison to the Euro. The US Dollar’s loss of value is part of
the Illuminati plan to cause a worldwide economic crash. The history
behind the US Dollar’s present status helps to explain why the US
Dollar’s loss of value is a WORLDWIDE issue, not just an American
issue.

After World War II, economist John Maynard Keynes proposed major
economic policies to rebuild the devastated economies of Europe and
Asia as part of avoiding future wars. Keynes proposed the US Dollar
should become the standard world currency to which the value of all
other currencies would be tied. The USA’s economy was the only
economy at the end of World War II which was strong enough to reach
out and help the ruined economies of Europe and Asia, therefore the US
Dollar became the common medium of exchange. This led to a planned,
very large expansion of US Dollars being used as the international
currency by all countries worldwide. It is why even today, when
traveling to other countries, the US Dollar is accepted by most
businesses and service providers.

There are huge amounts of US Dollars held by businesses and
governments of most countries worldwide. Therefore, the loss of value
of the US Dollar impacts much of the world.

The Illuminati have planned for many decades to cause a worldwide
economic crash with the hope it would cause chaos in the streets. The
Illuminati believe that if the people become unruly due to economic
crashes, the major governments would be justified in declaring MARTIAL
LAW. Martial Law is necessary for the Illuminati to impose their
“new
world order” or “one world government” on the world’s people.

One of the current Illuminati actions to cause a worldwide economic
crash is the planned reduction in the value of the US Dollar.
Therefore, it is NO surprise that the Illuminati worldwide
organization is pulling the strings of China and China’s government
is
planning to sell over one trillion US Dollars in the coming months.
Only a few of China’s highest officials are privy to the
Illuminati’s
plans and therefore aware of the TRUE reason behind China selling one
trillion US Dollars.

Last week according to the Washington Post newspaper, Bush government
officials met in Beijing with Chinese officials to discuss economic
issues, including certain currency issues. Although China’s
announcement they are selling one trillion US Dollars is not widely
published, it is a fact.
Fortunately, there are behind-the-scenes actions which will PREVENT
the China sales of US Dollars from giving the Illuminati the worldwide
economic crash they are hoping to cause.

Dan,

Thanks for addressing this stuff.

I do not think anybody gives a lot of consideration to the narcowar

 shitless.

also, sorry, but to think the massoud hit was anything other than
an

someone in the whitehouse picked up a phone and said, hey, big o!

 b) knowing the u.s. had already begun to insert spec forces into

i don't know about the terror drills. i DO know that, contrary to

rather, they protected the op they were participating in.

finally, there seems to be quite a lack of rigorous thought in some
of the other questions here. IF there was something amiss in the
collapse of the buildings, THEN the first scientists to be all over
it would not be red state dickwads from texas tech and utah state,
but from schools so affected, say, colombia, that they couldn't be
silenced, or from blue states that really hate bush, say, at
harvard.

as for rodriguez, tarpley, etc: i again point to the logical
assertion that we are dealing with an EITHER/OR proposition. and
since, in the five fucking years since 9/11, there has been not a
SHRED of real evidence to the contrary, i again assert that the
9/11
truth movement is disinformation designed to lead questioning away
from certain obvious and highly inconvenient facts about the heroin
trafficking the americans who were housing atta were at that same
 time involved in.

if that's not a big enough or dirty enough conspiracy for you,

[column]:

vette drugscontrole. Naast de security staan vijfentwintig agenten
met drugshonden en iedereen wordt gecheckt! Wat doe jij dan met je
drie pillen?

legaal aanwezige drug: alcohol.

view, the role of the government is to protect the drug cartel.
That's literally true.’

[berichten]:
Drugs goedkoper
BRUSSEL - Volgens een analyse van het EU-drugsagentschap (EWDD)
zijn in Europa de straatprijzen van heroïne en XTC in vijf jaar
tijd bijna gehalveerd.

Purnima Mane,
(Volkskrant)

activiteiten. (NRC Handelsblad)

Medicinale marihuana kweken mag
Ministerie gaat in cassatie. Moorlag’s advocaat Wim
