Hi everyone-

Is there any kind of documentation that out there that describes the overall
way that the Cinelerra classes interact to accomplish tasks? For example, is
there anything that describes the process Cinelerra uses to playback video
from the timeline? Just based on what I've been able to find (basically
nothing), it seems like it would be increadibly difficult for a potential
contributor (like me) to get a handle on how the program actually works.

 Indeed it is. :-/

Everything that I can find seems to point to the Secrets of Cinelerra
document or the Cinelerra manual (are these basically the same?) which talk
about how to use the application, but not really how the application works.

For what it is worth, I have generated Doxygen documentation now and then,
and put some of them online. The latest was of revision 1056, which is the
first one of _all_ the hvirtual tree (made on a much faster computer!):

I found function call graphs quite useful, so I enabled them. What used
to take a day and a night on a quite fast laptop took two hours on a four
CPU Opteron. :-))

(We should do this more often, now that we have a quite juicy server for
cinelerra.org. Cillian?)

I already started some time ago some things on the 'devel' vserver to do
such. but not yet completed. Help here would be appredicated, Volunteers
 contact me please.

...one of the things that finally drove us into the Lumiera project.

It isn't only a problem of missing documentation. A well-structured
Application doesn't need a lot of documentation for the developer to
find the extension points he needs. Sadly enough, Cinelerra doesn't
have much extension points (besides the plugin system, of course),
and it doesn't have any obvious modularity. To accomplish anything,
you beforehand need a quite complete understanding of how things are
supposed to work, which is the core of the problem.

[CinCV] [Bug 508] New: Titler: copy and paste with mouse needs a keyboard character

2008-07-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
http://bugs.cinelerra.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508

Summary: Titler: copy and paste with mouse needs a keyboard
character
   Product: Cinelerra
   Version: 2.1
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: Medium
 Component: Effects/Transitions
AssignedTo: cinelerra@skolelinux.no
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Text copied and pasted in the text field of the Title Effect dialog using the
mouse is not shown in the Compositor or saved in the dialog unless at least one
character is entered with the keyboard.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Copy and paste some text in the text field of the Title Effect dialog using
the mouse
2. Preview the effect in the Compositor
3. Close and reopen the Titler

Actual Results:
The text is visible in the text field but not in the Compositor.
If you close and reopen the Titler the text has gone

Expected Results:
The text entered by mouse pasting should be visible in the Compositor and
memorized just like the text entered by keyboard.

To make the titler behave it's sufficient to enter a character with the
keyboard. That character can then be deleted.
(This is just a workaround, of course)

This partiality to keyboards is unacceptable. ;-)

Ciao
Raffaella

[CinCV] [Bug 509] New: Titler: cut/copy and paste with keyboard produces only a character c

To cut/copy and paste some text in the text field of the Titler dialog using
keyboard shortcuts produces only a character c

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the titler
2. Cut or copy and paste some text in the text field using keyboard shortcuts

Actual Results:
Only the letter c is pasted.

Expected Results:
It's nice to see Cin has so a strong personality that she wants her initial
written everywhere, but really I think the titler should support such a basic
text editing operation.

Workaround:
Copy and paste with mouse (and use the workaround to the relative bug)

Ciao!

Works for me.
Ctrl-C copies selected, Ctrl-V pastes.
Also, selecting with mouse automatically copies, middle button pastes.
Also select with keyboard (Ctrl-left/right), and Ctrl-V pastes.

True.
Some keyboard copy/paste works here too.

Selection:
Ctrl-Left/Ctrl-Right and Ctrl-Home/Ctrl-End work.

Copy/paste
1. Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V works.
2. Ctrl-Ins (copy) and Shift-Ins (paste) do not work.

I heard a lot of people prefer this second pair of shortcuts because they are
used to the UNIX meaning of Ctrl-C.
But since Cin already uses 'c' and 'v' as shortcuts for copying and pasting
video selections, her preference for the first pair is not unreasonable.
Not sure it is easily discoverable.
For sure it is not documented.

Thanks
Raffaella

Sorry, a typo. I meant:

Selection:
Shift-Left/-Right, Shift-Home/-End, Shift-ArrowUp/Down, Shift-PageUp/Down
work.

[CinCV] Vimeo Group

2008-07-18 Thread leandro ribeiro
Hi there!

I've just created a Vimeo Cinelerra group, so that cinelerra users who
have a Vimeo account can showcase their material there. It also works
as a forum.

Link: http://www.vimeo.com/groups/

I was surprised to see that a cinelerra group didn't exist in the first place :)

Best regards,
Leandro
