Re: [CinCV] Cinelerra support for SOWT audio?

2009-12-22 Thread Burkhard Plaum

Hi,

Hi,

I'm running Cinelerra 4.1 (from the Debian multimedia repository) and
am having trouble
loading the audio from a .mov file created on a Canon 5D MkII.

qtinfo shows the following:

Type: Quicktime
  1 audio tracks.
2 channels, 16 bits, sample rate 44100, length 2637180 samples,
compressor sowt.
Sample format: 16 bit signed.
Channel setup: Front Left, Front Right
Language: eng
supported.
  1 video tracks.
1920x1080, depth 24
rate 30.00 [3000:100] constant
length 1794 frames
compressor avc1.
Native colormodel: YUV 4:2:0 planar
Interlace mode: None (Progressive)
Chroma placement: MPEG-2
No timecodes available
supported.
  0 text tracks.

Loading the file into Cinelerra produces the following warning on the
console:

new_acodec: couldn't find codec for "sowt"

The video loads fine, just no audio.

From this it looks like the audio is encoded as PCM two's compliment

little endian.

Yes, sowt is identical to twos, only the endianess is swapped.

Any ideas on how I can load this into Cinelerra?

It's impossible as long as the codec is missing. Making a "sowt" codec
from the already existing "twos" codec would be trivial though.

Re: [CinCV] cin 2.1 and cin-sv xml compatibility

2009-12-22 Thread Simeon Völkel
Hello Klemen,

if CinCV and CinSV .xml should be compatible that's rather by accident.

To stay on the safe side, please use CinCV. CinSV is just a kind of
personal playground.

If you need some of the features of CinSV for production, I'd recommend to
help merging Cin4HV into CinCV, after that, merging SV into CV should be
easy - if still required.

[CinCV] Compositing Ken Burns effect

2009-12-22 Thread Keith Gudger
I have a project with a number of still pictures that I want to use the
"Ken Burns" effect on. I know how to use the camera to do this, and
this part works fine. Where I have trouble is in the transitions
between stills

If I just use "jump" cuts between stills, there are about 2 frames where
I have the wrong camera settings. This seems to be because Cinelerra
can not instantaneously (i.e., at the beginning of 1 frame) change the
camera settings. I understand why this might be, but... It would be
great if at a frame interface there could be 2 settings for the camera.
In other words, and instantaneous jump from one set of settings to
another, so that there are no "bad" frames where I have the wrong camera
settings.

In case my description is confusing, take a simple example where the
first picture has a 'Z' setting of 1.5, and the next picture has a 'Z'
setting of 2.0. We're rendering along happily at 1.5, and then cut to a
new picture. The closest I can get the new 'Z' setting is 1 or 2 frames
away, and this means that there are 2 frames of the new picture with the
old or an intermediate 'Z' setting.

I would be happy to look at the code to see what's going on, if the
experts on this list think that what I want is even possible?

Thanks!
Keith
