Re: [CinCV] Daf Hobson
I would try mp3 first (for the file size) and wav (pcm) format then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Interchange_File_Format#AIFF_on_Mac_OS_X try "aiff vs wav" AND/OR "aiff to wav" in google. which audio driver did you choose in cinelerra settings? please check & try another one. if you choose "alsa", you might as well have to tick "stop playback locks up". good luck. georg :-) On Friday 25 June 2010 11:43:35 d...@dafhobson.com wrote: > Hi All > Re .MOV files from Canon; I have tried converting the sound part to > various other file types. > I can not get sound to sync up with picture. > Can anyone give me a brief pointer how to extend or shorten the sound > files to fit picture? > Thanks > Daf > > ___ > Cinelerra mailing list > Cinelerra@skolelinux.no > https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra > -- kurt georg hooss kurts film / schoepfung & wandel breite straße 6-8 d-23552 luebeck www.kurts-film.com ___ Cinelerra mailing list Cinelerra@skolelinux.no https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra

You can zoom in or out the media in the compositor window. When using a percent value, the video appear in a white box and you can move it with a middle mouse click. This move doesn't affect the video. This function is useless when using the "Auto" value: the media become scalable with the compositor window. You can extract and convert easily audio parts of your videos (several at once) with WinFF. Hi Daf! I didn't understand the '?' comment. '?' doesn't do anything at all that I can see. Shift/? or Ctrl/? neither does anything. You can operate the camera and projector also from a dialog, entering numeric values. To open the Camera window, click on the camera button and then click on the ?-shaped button below the camera button (last but one in the vertical series of buttons in the compositor window). I have discovered 'middle click' which moves the White box in compositor window. Uh!? I missed that function. Can you explain it better, please? Re: [CinCV] Daf Hobson
Cinelerra2.1 can't read sowt codec. You should export the audio part of your video, encode it into a format readable by Cinelerra and import video and audio separately. by the way it seems that there is a patch ... but for Cin4.1 ==> http://e.kevb.net/lurker/search/20380101.00.0...@ml:cinelerra,sowt.en.html On 2010-06-13 17:27, d...@dafhobson.com wrote: > Thanks for your reply Raffaella. > > Ah! Re: [CinCV] Daf Hobson
Hi Daf! I have returned to try Cinelerra again and, this time, have installed from source as per 'Grandma Tutorial' for 64 bit. Thanks Rafaella - Grandma loves you! Thanks for testing the recipe! :-) 1/. 'Adjust Camera Automation' puts green cross box directly over image but cannot be adjusted in any way by shift/click or click - or any other means I can find. Just to be sure: Is your track the first armed track of the stack? Have you tried moving the camera with the dialog? (open it it with the "?" button) Have you tried moving the camera with the curves? (visualize them on the timeline from the "View" menu) I noticed on some computer the camera reaction to my mouse actions is *very* slow. Re: [CinCV] Daf Hobson / Tom King
I personally don't know about the X library headers. I'd have to do a Google search so I'll leave that up to you. Most library files are placed in /lib and /usr/lib although there are probably others scattered about depending on the install method (like compiling and installing an app in your home directory may leave some .so files in your home directory). Some of the developers on the list may fill in more information. Take care, Tom King Quoting dafhobson : Thanks Tom Yes I'm using Karmic 9.10 (which I notice has suddenly started playing .MOV files rather well) So in each case I will install the -dev as well .. thanks. may I ask about 'X library headers'. What are they and what do I do with them?... or - where can I find out! One thing I have never understood.. where do the library files get saved to and how does Cinelerra know where to look? Sorry these are dummy questions. Re: [CinCV] Daf Hobson
Different distros name the header packages differently. I didn't notice if you'd mentioned what distro you are using. For me, running Ubuntu, most of those appear to be the package name and '-dev'. Like 'libraw1394' has 'libraw1394-dev' so you'd install both those packages. Tom King Quoting dafhobson : Hello Cinelerra I am trying once again to get Cinelerra working. This time I wish to install the Community Version and follow the instructions in:- http://cinelerra.org/docs/cinelerra_cv_manual_en.html#SEC9 I am not a computer engineer though I have now managed Ubuntu for two years there are many things I cannot understand so when I read Section2.2 - Software requirements... I am lost...! Section 2.2 <<< To install Cinelerra you should have a current version of GNU/Linux with the X Window System (e.g., X.org) and some audio management software properly running. You should also have the following libraries installed (partial list): a52dec dv faac ffmpeg fftw lame libavc1394 libfaad2 libraw1394 mjpegtools OpenEXR theora x264 You will also need the headers for all required libraries. For many distributions, this means that you will need to install the "-dev" or "devel" packages that correspond to your installed library packages. In addition to the libraries listed here, be sure you have the X library headers. Missing headers will usually result in compilation failing with cryptic error messages. I do not know what the above paragraph means. How can I find out what 'headers' are and what to do with them? How do I find dev packages which 'correspond' to libraries. What are X library headers etc etc. I want to edit .mov files from a canon 5DMKII (UK 25fps) My machine is a 64bit AMD 2.6GHz with masses of memory 250GB SATA and 1TB of separate SATA drive.
