Re: learning facilities

2001-02-05 Thread Carl Hagan, CCNP, MCSE, Excite.Com IS Dept.

The best training I have gotten from Cisco came from Certification Solution.
www.certificationsolution.com

The worst we as a tech support group have attended lately has been Global
Knowledge who seems to be going way down hill. Their classes seem to be
getting smaller, their instructors seem to be having less experience and the
equipment per student is getting less and has to be shared.

Those are the only two though that I have personally attended. Because of
the bad feedback from Global Knowledge we here at Excite IT are all booking
classes through CS since they are cheaper, give the test vouchers and you
get your own equipment to use(Which helps big time).

Hope this helps.

Switching Black Book by Sean Odom and Hanson Nottingham

2000-12-08 Thread Carl Hagan, CCNP, MCSE, Excite.Com IS Dept.

Just an FYI for the group. I got the Switching Black Book from Sean Odom
and Doug Hammond. I cannot believe what it has! I know Sean Odom is known
for putting out books that are well written and takes the time to place more
than the needed technical information. What I thought I was getting was a
atep by step guide on just Catalyst switches and the configurations. What I
got? Catalyst switches, ATM LightStream Switches and WAN switch
configurations as well. Holy cow Batman! Where was this book when I needed
it months ago??? This is a gold mine. I don't think there is any other
books like it out on the market yet. It is a good resource to have.

RE: Your Switching Exam Prep

2000-08-18 Thread Carl Hagan, CCNP, MCSE, Excite.Com IS Dept.

No offense to Thomas but Sean Odom and Doug Hammonds book is better
organized and spells things out much cleaner. Yes it covers everything
Thomas's book covers and more. There is even a very good chapter on ATM.
One of the biggest benefits is Chapter 4 which outlines every single switch,
and their features, available modules, ports, speeds, etc. It would take me
weeks to compile all this information. I wish someone would do that for
routers.

For those who have been asking what the book title and ISBN numeber is. The
Switching Exam Prep, by Coriolis. The author is Sean Odom and Doug Hammond.
ISBN number 1-157610-689-6. It is a good book!

With the Switching Exam prep book, does it apply to the test/course
BCMSN?
If you got the chance, how does it compare to the book BCMSN, Building
Cisco
Multilayer Switching Netowrks by Thomas Thomas M. II?

  Thanks,

  Sean,

I just wanted you to know that I got your book and used it to pass the
Switching Exam. You and Doug did so much better at describing the
switching
and putting it into plain English than the Cisco Press book did.

I can't wait until your Switching Black Book comes out! Are you going to
be
in the Bay Area sometime soon? I would like to meet you.
