Looking for a CCIE lab partner in New York City area

2001-03-15 Thread David Eitel

I'm looking for lab partner in the New York City area. I currently have 6
routers that handle 85% of the interfaces for the CCIE. I'm also using
bootcamp labs for prep. Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if interested

Point to Point T1 connectivity

2001-03-16 Thread David Eitel

I have a problem. I have a point to point t1
router 1Line up protocol down
router 2 Line down protocol down
On router 2 the alarm LED is on. Both routers shared the same circuit
configs. Router 1 clocking is internal and router 2 clocking is line. Should
the cables from the demark be straight through? One straight through? One
crossed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Point to Point Link Problem

I have a point to point T1 that is not working. The routers involved are a

not the 3640. I've swapped cables and the internal WIC on the 3640 side. Any

Stable IOS supporting SSH

Can anyone tell me a stable IOS version supporting SSH on a 3640? I've
experienced problems with some IOS versions not seeing interfaces after
upgrade, etc.

On a 3662 we use 12.1(3)T with ssh and 3DES. Here's the image:

IP Helper-address questions [7:247]

2001-04-11 Thread David Eitel

I have two routers connected via serial point to point link. Router 1 has
an ethernet segment with PDC info I want forwarded to Router 2 ethernet
segment. No ip directed broadcast is configured on all interfaces. I want
netbios traffic passed from one segment to the other. I have placed an IP
helper-address statement on the ethernet interface needing the help. Do I
need to use the ip helper-address on all interfaces to the source ip
helper-address? Is the ip forward-protocol also necessary? Any advice would
be greatly appreciated

Extended access list question [7:1718]

2001-04-24 Thread David Eitel

Hello Everybody,
I have a segment that I want only established traffic to enter. This has
become quite confusing. I want ping, telnet, traceroute and DNS replies as
well as FTP. Heres what I currently have. Any feedback would be appreciated.

access-list 101 permit ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 > Allowing IP
access-list 101 permit tcp any 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 established --->
Allowing established TCP traffic
access-list 101 permit udp any 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 gt 1023 -->
Allowing DNS replies
access-list 101 permit icmp any any echo-reply --> Allow ping reply

Can you explain to me how you can telnet into the router if "all
interfaces fail" with the exception of the loopback interface? If ALL
interfaces fail, the only way you can get to the router is via console or
AUX. And you call yourself a CCNP. No wonder the value of Cisco
certification value (with the exception of the CCIE) is becoming less
desirable these days.

High FCS errors on cat5505 [7:15885]

2001-08-13 Thread David Eitel

Hello. I'm experiencing huge amounts of fcs errors on my switch.
3/1 91521 fcs errors
3/2 28078 fcs errors
These counters were cleared Friday. I understand that these errors are
usually media related. I've swapped cables so far which has not seemed to
help. I can tell you there is a sun e450 and e250 attached to these ports.
Do you know of any interoperability issues with the cat 5505 and sun NICS?

Thanks In Advance,
Dave

Used Cisco equipment question [7:18436]

Hi,
I'm thinking about purchasing (2) used 6509s. Would I be able to add these
units to my existing cisco support contract or would I need to take the
third party route?

Thanks In Advance,
