It is my understanding that you TFTP down your existing config. Make the necessary changes to include the comments then TFTP it back to the router. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of MADMAN Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2001 3:14 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Comments in Config Scripts [7:18839] I think that is only valid for use with access lists Dave Kwame wrote: > > How can I insert comments in a config file? RE: Can you filter a subnet on a sniffer pro? [7:18168]
Unfortunately, you have to use pattern matching and enter the hex values for the octets you are looking for. I don't have my cheat sheet handy otherwise I would give a specific example. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Frank Kim Sent: Saturday, September 01, 2001 4:10 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Can you filter a subnet on a sniffer pro? [7:18168] Hi guys, I'm using sniffer pro 3.0 on NT platform. I am able to filter a single host or any host. But I cannot filter a subnet, for example, 10.10.10.0/24. I have tried entering in all sort of combination such as: 10.10.10.* 10.10.10.*.* 10.10.10.0/24 10.10.10.0 /24 10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0 10.10.10.0 /255.255.255.0 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.any 10.10.10. 10.10.10.0 What am I missing? Or maybe this sniffer software doesn't support a subnet filtering? If that's the case, then it's rediculous. Because it does support 'any' which is everything. Thanks for any input. -Frank Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=18175&t=18168 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Reseting Supervisor Engine and/or MSFC [7:18138]
Thomas, The CAT OS and the IOS on the MSFC's can be upgraded independently in the 6500s. You can reset just the MSFC. I log into the MSFC and enter the 'reset' command while in enable mode. This resets just the MSFC and thus reduces the down time. Ed -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Thomas N. It runs in Hyrid mode. I plan to upgrade the IOS of the MSFC cards only, NOT the Supervisor Engines. I wonder: 1. Is IOS version of MSFC dependent on the CATOS version of Supervisor Engine? 2. When I reset after the upgrade, do I have to reset the whole module (Supervisor Engine + MSFC) or just the MSFC? If I cannot reset only the MSFC, in what mode should I issue the reset command? CATOS or IOS in this case (IOS is in session 15 or 16)? Will this reset both the Supervisor and the MSFC? 3. Should I not losing the configuration which I assumed they're saved in NVRAM of the MSFC or Sup. Engine? Again, Thanks much to All!!! Thomas N. RE: Catalyst Q. [7:18036]
We implemented a separate management VLAN and the SUP card is on that while its connection upstream trunks the management VLAN and the VLAN used by the other modules in the CAT. We then use two dual-homed Linux boxes (backup in case one fails) to gain access to the management VLAN. The firewall on the Linux box both protects the management VLAN and limits access to the Linux hosts. Since we have the Linux systems for that, we take advantage of having them and use one of them as a syslog server. Another method would be to put the systems needing telnet access on the management VLAN. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Cisco Lover Sent: Friday, August 31, 2001 1:21 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Catalyst Q. RE: Cisco Secure !!!!!
One does not need a database product to run CiscoSecure. Although, one does have an option to use one with CiscoSecure. It makes for a nice way to use an AS5x00 with an established NT environment as one can use an NT domain for validating. -Original Message- From: David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, June 06, 2000 9:43 PM To: Brad Ellis Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Cisco Secure ! I haven't had a chance to play around with CiscoSecure yet, but it apparently requires an Oracle or Sybase installation to maintain RADIUS, TACACS+, and other information. It's designed for large environments with many thousands of entries. If you just need a simple TACACS+ or RADIUS server for a hundred accounts or so, there are plenty of free platforms out there. Just search around. ___ UPDATED Posting Guidelines: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/guide.html FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ UPDATED Posting Guidelines: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/guide.html FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: How to enable the telnet on NT Box
There is also a telnet server in the NT4 Server Resource Kit. -Original Message- From: John Hardman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2000 2:13 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: How to enable the telnet on NT Box Hi Well depends if you are talking about NT acting as a telnet client or telnet server... The TCP/IP stack in NT has a built-in telnet client, just type telnet from a command prompt. There is no native telnet server in NT 4.0, however if you go to 32bit.bhs.com or www.winfiles.com and search for telnet, you will find several thrid party telnet servers for NT 4. If you have Win2K there is a telnet server built-in.
