RE: NAT WITHIN An ETHERNET INTERFACE.

2000-09-01 Thread JULIUS OMIDIORA

Yes, you can use NAT, translating the private ip range to the virtual IP
already assigned to the internet interface, kind of hiding the private
network behind one virtual IP, so every host on the network would have the
private IP of the router as the default gateway, however, every internet
packet reaching the gateway would have the virtual/public address as the
source address. you can do this with a firewall as well e g F/wall 4.1 where
you decide if you are going to have "hiding IP" or "static IP".

Hi,
I have an Ethernet Network with 2 ips.
One ip is Internet IP. The other is PRIVATE ip.
I want the machines with the private ip\'s also to
browse without the use of a proxy server.
is it possible to implement this is
cisco NAT or anyother service.

The cisco IOS version is 11.3 and the router is
cisco 2600
model with a single ethernet port.

Soft reload issue the command "reload" and for hard reboot pull the power
plug, and you should retain your config' assuming you have issued the "wr m"

RE: trace pop3?

2000-06-20 Thread JULIUS OMIDIORA

The first question is has it ever worked, if yes, then what changed since it
last worked, either on your network on the account, confirm with your ISP
that the Zone file us still properly set up and that it has not changed.

You should be able to telnet to the pop3 account on both ports (25 and 110)
if not, it could be a firewall problem (More than likely) if you are behind
a firewall or router configuration i e access list et all or that the
account is incorrectly set-up or non assistance. If I were you I'll be
getting unto my ISP, they need (amongst other things) be able to telnet to
the pop3 account on port 110.

Use the "log" keyword on your access lists if your IOS version supports
it (I think 11.x) so you can see which lines deny or permit which
packets on which interface, If you don't or can't, you can also use
"show ip accounting access-violations".

for
any of the CCNA/CCNP tests that are required for certification. The tests
cost $100.00, I'll let the vouchers go for $50.00 a piece. Let me know if
anyone is interested.

RE: Which is right? 'trace' or 'traceroute'

2000-06-14 Thread JULIUS OMIDIORA

Trace and tracert (not traceroute)'s fine, it depends on where you are and
what you are doing, e. g, in a router you would be entering trace (ip
address), whereas in "dos" environment you'll enter tracert and when it is a
verbal conversation you are most likely to say "trace route"

RE: NAT for ISPs

2000-06-07 Thread JULIUS OMIDIORA

I work for an ISP and sometimes we advice our clients to use NAT if their IP
requirement is too large for comfort, it helps us to best distribute our ip
allocations more efficiently, obviously we would allocate a public address
on their radius profile and every other address would translate unto
that..

I have a Cisco 26000 series router with a BRI
interface. I need to conenct this router on ISDN to a
Windows NT machine ( NT ver 4) which is conencted to
an OMNI 128 Zyxel TA.
I have configured the router as per CISCO docs .
The call lands on the TA fine. I get a message on the
router saying that the call is connected and then the
calll gets disconnected. Windows NT event viewer shows
the following message : 20070 , ppp authentication,
unable to converge. I have tried using PAP, CHAP as
well as MS CHAP. Dialin permissions in NT have also
been given.
Has a CISCO router been configured to Dial to an NT
machine ?? If so, can I have the configuration of the
same ? @
I would appreciate it if you could give me a config
for the above senario.
