RE: about OSPF,
Thank you very much for the answer. Janto -Original Message- From: Priscilla Oppenheimer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2000 9:19 AM To: Janto Cin; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: about OSPF, At 08:47 AM 10/13/00, Janto Cin wrote: >But is EIGRP send full routing tables changes like RIP or just updated >changes like OSPF ? It's not easy to compare EIGRP and OSPF. Since OSPF is a link-state protocol, it advertises links and their states, not routes. OSPF is quiet (except for neighbor hellos) unless a change in link state occurs, as you probably know. EIGRP advertises vectors of distances to remote networks. Unlike RIP and IGRP, which also advertise vectors of distances, EIGRP updates are sent only when there's a change. The updates include only routes that have changed, rather than every entry in the route table. The updates are sent only to affected routers. So in those ways, EIGRP is quite different from RIP or IGRP. Please send questions to the group, not me. There are some major EIGRP and OSPF gurus on the group. Plus, if you are wondering about something, probably somebody else is too.
