CCIE Lab dates in Halifax or NC

2001-02-13 Thread Lurker

I understand the lab in San Jose has a roughly 6 month waiting period. Does
anyone know what the delay is for Halifax or NC? I'm considering going
there if it will get me in sooner.

Thanks!

Michael

Mike,

The best resource I've used for RIFs if Lou Rossi's document which can be
found at http://www.ccprep.com/resources/Whitepapers.asp. After studying
that entire document, I don't believe you'll have any further questions
regarding RIFs.

Re: ccbootcamp

2001-02-26 Thread Lurker

I vote for truth in labeling. ;-) If I'm preparing for the lab, the
scenarios similar to the lab would provide a great deal of benefit.
However, for learning the technology to apply to real life adventures,
solutions based scenarios would also provide a great deal of benefit.

BTW, didn't you write for LAN TIMES magazine some time ago? I used to work
for that magazine and your name is very familiar.

Lots of people in various states of financial success/problems ask questions

Aironet 350 bridge questions [7:9094]

2001-06-19 Thread Lurker

All,

I have a few questions regarding the Aironet 350 workgroup bridges and I
haven't yet found the answers on CCO. I'm connecting building to building
via Aironet.

1. Is the 350 series good for this? From what I can, find the 350 series
appears to be superior to the 340 series. However, I'm being told by a
design guy that the 350 bridges won't connect building to building. His
opinion doesn't appear to be accurate.

Furthermore, the 350 series workgroup bridges are $499 vs $1,499 for the 340
workgroup bridge. Is this because of limited ability or aggressive pricing
by Cisco?

2. The 350 workgroup bridge documentation at
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/350wgbr.htm shows the workgroup
bridge being connected to the network via an access point. Is this the
proper configuration for building to building? I've seen 340 series
workgroup bridge kits that are designed to connect buildings via bridge to
bridge (not using an access point).

3. Can the 350 workgroup bridge be powered from a regular power adapter as
well as from the ethernet cable?

Thank you very much for your help!

Michael Ashton

Need to bypass Firewall-Can the telnet port be changed? [7:12707]

2001-07-17 Thread Lurker

I need to use the VPN to get to my study lab in the office. Unfortunately,
telnet appears to be blocked. Is it possible to change the terminal server
configuration so it answers on a different port such as port 80?

Thank you for replying so promptly with this good information.
Unfortunately, I might not have made myself clear. My terminal server is a
Cisco 2511 router, not a version of Windows.

Re: Need to bypass Firewall-Can the telnet port be changed? [7:12819]

2001-07-18 Thread Lurker

Sean,

Thank you for your well-considered response. You are absolutely correct.
I'm not allowed to make any changes to the firewall. However, I still need
to access my CCIE lab from outside the office. Therefore, security isn't as
much of a concern as it might be in a production environment. Therefore,
I'm hoping to change the port the term server listens to so I can get past
the firewall.

I've considered setting up something like pcAnywhere on a desktop and
accessing that and then telnetting to the terminal server. However, I'd
prefer to use a different solution if possible as it will already be slow
and inserting a remote control package will likely slow it even further.

So, in short, is it possible to change the listen port on the 2511 router to
port 80 or something similar?
