Re: Bridge Groups.... [7:105]

2001-04-10 Thread Richard Froom

Currently, you can only have bridge-group per interface or sub-interface.
You can create sub interfaces on Fastethernet only when trunking and using
VLANs.

Re: Cat 4006 with layer 3 module - trunking and ether channel [7:94]

2001-04-10 Thread Richard Froom

IOS will send CDP packets on physical interfaces as well as port channel
interfaces. The Catalyst 4k receiving multiple CDP neighbors
will report the message "Not directly connected to switch" for one of the
port channel members. This caveat may be changed in the future.

Re: How to recover MSFC password

2001-04-04 Thread Richard Froom

You will have to access the supervisor via the console and issue the
command "switch console." From here, you will be able to see the bootup
process of the MSFC and can issue a break sequence to put the MSFC into the
rommon mode. From the rommon mode, you just follow the same password
recovery as a 7200.

Re: Cisco 1900 dot1q

2001-04-04 Thread Richard Froom

The Cat1900 was developed before the dot1q spec was completed and the
hardware components were not available at the time to support dot1q. As a
result, the Cat1900 will never be able to support dot1q.

Re: ARP issue with 802.1q Trunking

2001-02-22 Thread Richard Froom

Keep in mind, by default the switch will not tag the Native VLAN which is
VLAN 1 by default. You will need to adjust the configuration of the router
accordingly. See the following sample configuration for more details:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/473/50.shtml

Sample Configuration: ISL/802.1Q Trunking Between a Catalyst 2900XL/3500XL
and a Cisco 2600 Router

Check out the following URL, it explains how to resolve the issue on Cisco
switches. You most likely need to turn off channeling and trunking on those
ports or use the set port host mod#/port# command
