Cisco 4000 any good for lab?

2000-05-18 Thread Sadowski

Has anyone had any experience with a Cisco 4000 series router. It looks to
me like it can run IOS.

4000 Router

2000-05-18 Thread Sadowski

Sorry, I didn't mean "4000 series" I meant an actual 4000.

It's listed on Cosco's page as an end-of-life product, and I'm just
wondering if anyone has had any experience with it...

Thanx,

John

Did I get a good deal?

2000-05-23 Thread Sadowski

Hello!

I'm not too familiar with the going prices for used Cisco products, and I
was wondering if you could inform me as to wether or not I got a good deal
on the following:

Cisco 4000 with 2 Dual serial NPU's and one single ethernet NPU
Cisco MGS 1 token ring/2 serial
4 Token Ring NIC's and Cables
6 Port token ring MAU

I paid $1000CDN (approx 680 US)

I hope I did OK.

Upgrading a Cisco 4000

2000-05-23 Thread Sadowski

Okay.

I hope this is an appropriate subject for this group.

I just recently bought a cisco 4000 to get some hands-on.

What would you recommend to get this box up to a decent IOS version?
What is the best source for ram/flash/ios upgrades?

I realize I could research this myself, but if ten of you have done it
before, hopefully you could prevent me from reinventing the wheel...

Thanks for your help!

The bootup shows the following:

Cisco memory

2000-06-07 Thread Sadowski

Hi there!

Can anyone answer this question?

I have a Cisco 4000 with 4M SDRAM and 1M Shared

If I replace the 4M with a 16 M upgrade, can I use the 4M I take out to
upgrade my shared field?

Just wondering!
