Using a 2611 as an ISL router for a 2924 switch

2001-03-27 Thread Sean Graham

The first question I have..is the above possible with a 2611 router with a
Fast Ethernet module install, with 48MB DRAM and IOS 12.1. It also has 2
Wic-1T serial cards.

The Cisco web site has configuration examples based on 2620's but doesn't
mention the 2611. I have had this working using a 3620 OK. But am not able
to get this working using the 2611 I am receiving various errors on both the
router and the switch.

I am wondering as the config is fairly straight forward is this actually
possible with this router.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

I am using a FastEthernet 100mbp module. I used the same one in a 3620 which
did work.

MAC address of interfaces in PIX 515R [7:5544]

2001-05-23 Thread Sean Graham

Hi, I am in the process of setting up a PIX515 for use with a cable modem.
The provider DHCP's the address to the clients. I want to use the PIX to
connect to the modem but the ISP secure the DHCP request by MAC address of
the interface. I have to inform them what it is before it will lease the new
IP address. What is the easiest way to find out the MAC address of the
Ethernet interfaces in the PIX. I can't see an obvious command.

Many thanks,

Sean

Migrating from routed network to VLAN network [7:11453]

2001-07-09 Thread Sean Graham

I don't know if anybody has any ideas. I am currently in the process of
migrating from a routed network where a 4500 is the core to a VLAN network
using a 3640, 5500 and 2900's. I am trying to make the migration as simple
and painless as possible by not having to everything in one hit. All users
are at the moment in VLAN1 on the same 5500 that is going to be segmented as
VLAN 10 thru 60 later on.

I have setup a small test so far. I have a 2900XL with an ISL trunk to the
5500 and the 3640 is ISL routing for that VLAN (20). I would like to be able
to move users in small groups from VLAN1 to VLAN20 but still giving them
full contectivity to VLAN1. The 3640 is sharing routes with the old 4500 and
knows how to get to everything. When I put a user onto a port on the 2900 in
VLAN20 it is not able to connect to anything.

Any ideas...

Thanks,

There great providing you don't want to use ISL encapsulation, they only
support dot1q.
