Re: Mobile IP

I doubt that it can be done with cisco's solution, even lucent does not do
that. The only one I see out there with mobile ip capability is Symbol,

But Mobile IP is on the roadmap for cisco

Any insider news?

their IOS does have mobile ip capability, but did you check with AP? I doubt
if you can use mobile ip for 802.11b aironet product.

I could be wrong, but if you happen to know the answer, could you please
post the link. I am curious.

Thanks.

It works to me also. I use Aironet 340 AP, and it works for Enterasys PCMCIA
card as well. Of course it works with Aironet 340 adapter.

So what is your question? Chris?

path exists in BGP table, but no route in IP Routing table

2000-10-04 Thread Sean Wu

So what possible reason can cause this problem?

I have four routers,

R1 <---> R2
^ ^

v v
R3 <---> R4

AS1: R1
AS2: R2
AS3: R3+R4
IBGP between R3 and R4, EBGP between R1/R2, R2/R4, R1/R3
Everything else looks fine, and almost symetric configuration on R1/R3 and
R2/R4
But R3 can see R2 in routing table and BGP table, while
R4 doesn't see R1's ip in ip routing table, but it does see R1 in BGP table
via two different paths

Any idea?

Thanks,

Sean

Re: radius server recommendations [7:1113]

2001-04-19 Thread Sean Wu

Is there any white paper discussing tacacs+ and Radius, especially for
radius?

I would love to see those because it causes confusion when 802.1x comes out
with EAP stuff.

Anybody can clarify this? Cisco said only Cisco Secure 2.6 (only for windows
available, no support for unix platform) and later have EAP capable radius
server. This is particular useful for wireless LAN.

thanks.

Send BREAK to console thru term server [7:27572]

2001-11-28 Thread Sean Wu

How can we send a "BREAK" signal via telnet session?

I access some device via terminal server, the only thing I am wondering is
how to send a BREAK so that I can do password recovery.

thanks.

Re: Send BREAK to console thru term server [7:27572]

2001-11-28 Thread Sean Wu

Thanks for info. It does give a fairly long list of different combination on
generating BREAK

However, none of those works for me so far. Of course I didn't exhaust all
combinations. My assumption is simple
you are accessing a terminal server from somewhere via certain network
access, but you get to the terminal
server using telnet that comes with Win2k Pro.

Then you access the console port of a router via reverse telnet. if you
don't have physical access to the device
however, someone power off and power it back for you. So how can you do a
password recovery

i.e. How to send a break key sequence to the console port, which might be
several hops away, say, you ssh to A,
telnet to B, then telnet to router c, and finally you telnet to terminal
server.

thanks.

Maybe we can't do anything with telnet itself. So which terminal can send a
better "BREAK"? teraterm?

thanks

CATM score 951

2000-08-07 Thread Sean Wu

It was easy, and it even allows mark. I took CATM class from Jul 24-28, and
then my boss asked me to be on-call 24x7 for a week until 8/4. Read course
materials for the whole weekend. Took exam this afternoon. Everything you
need is in the course materials. Not many real commands, mostly theory.

I do have ATM Theory and Application book, that thick signature edition. But
that contains too much gory details than you need for exam. I will suggest
you get course material, read based on that, it will give you enough info to
pass that exam.

Hope it helps.

I took ACRC class last Nov. and there are almost 1/3 materials not in new

About ip helper-address

Re: About ip helper-address

2000-08-27 Thread Sean Wu

Actually, that was my questions too. I am not sure if all broadcast are
based on udp instead of TCP, like all multicast are based on udp to avoice
unnecessary retransmission. Maybe broadcast is the same case. Is my
understanding correct?

Cisco has a "ip forward-protocol dns", is it true that it is designed for
diskless workstation, say the DNS server ip add is not configured and need
broadcast dns query request? I think normally DNS ip address is already
pre-configured, so the DNS query should be a unicast instead of broadcast.

Expect script is pretty straighforward and easy to use
if you install expect package yourself, it comes with many good examples,
and they should be enough for you to start using expect/send sequences,
