Re: Phew !!! Passed my BCMSN today !!!! [7:12202]

2001-07-13 Thread Shahzad

good job imran. although i passed my BSCN 3 weeks ago and 50% done with
remote access, i am still revising the stuff in BSCN specifically BGP and
multiarea OSPF. somehow, i am stuck with routing which i belive is the core
of ccnp. i have got to straighten things out on it. call me crazy but i
signed up for bscn again, which i will be taking 2 weeks from now.
hopefully, i will then concentrate more on remote access and start on bcmsn.

Hi folks,

I am working on HaiBo DLSw+ Scenario

t0 r1 - r2 --- r3 t0
|t0

Task 1
configure such that host at [r2] t0 can access host at [r3] t0. The
answer is quite obvious.

Task 2 (this is the tricky one)
configure [r1] such that host at [r2] and [r3] can access host at [r1].
Only ONE peer connection is allowed. Border peer command is not allowed.

I am thinking to use remote peer Passthru between r1--r2 and r2--r3 which
will provide me the same
virtual-ring group to use between r1--r2 and r2--r3. But I am not able to
see Beta on r1.

Nizar,

When I do show dl reach at r1. I am not able to see PC name Beta which is on
r3 t0.
I need to make sure the configs are good for task 2 requirement. I dont have
a way to
test this. I have netbios-name Alpha on r2 and netbios-name Beta on r3. I
only see
Alpha is reacable through r2 when I do show dlsw reac on r1. I am not sure
this is the
right way to approach task 2. Read the task 2 requirement. Thankx

With TDMA Network [7:8044]

2001-06-11 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Hi all

I want some help regarding connecting cisco routers across a frame relay
based TDMA ( Time Division Multiple Access ) Network. In TDMA network, main
site (hub) is connected to different remote site having remote unit (each
site has differet DLCI). At main site there are two different path, one for
transmission (Tx) and other for Receive (Rx). So at main site a Frame Relay
switch is used to switch data from TX and RX path to DTE device ( e.g Cisco
router). Currently a main cisco router is connected to switch port and
differnt remote router connected to remote terminal (star topology). The
configuration used is at main site subinterfaces are created for each remote
site and set specific interface dlci for each subinterface).

Configuration at main router

interface s0
encapsulation frame-relay
no keep-alive ( as TDMA has lmi disabled)
no ip address

interface s 0.1
ip addr 192.168.21.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 17

interface s 0.2
ip addr 192.168.22.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 18

and so on as depend on number of remote site

Cofiguration at remote sites

interface s 0
encapsulation frame-relay
no keep-alive
no ip address

interface s0.1
ip addr 192.168.21.2 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 17

and same at all remote site routers.

How can I replace frame relay switch by using two serial port of Cisco
router and route data from both TX and Rx path to LAN ethernet port?
I want to eliminate switch and want same work with cisco router.

My understanding is that cisco router works as frame relay switch by
receiving data of a specific dlci from a serial port and swich to different
serial port with a differnt or same dlci. Can Cisco router transmit and
receive data of same dlci at different serial ports and route these data to
LAN ethernet interface?

Waiting for help.

Thanks

Khurrum

When connecting cisco router ( as frame-relay switch) with frame relay
device, I configured frame relay route as

Serial 0Dlci in 16to Serial 1 Dlci out 26
Serial 1Dlci in 27to Serial 0 Dlci out 17
( require only these 2 routes)

But "show frame-relay pvc" shows both route status inactive and both route
does not work.

When I give additional two route ( not required )

Serial 1Dlci in 26to Serial 1 Dlci out 16
Serial 0Dlci in 17to Serial 0 Dlci out 27

then both route status become active and configuration works.

Is it necessary that dlci path must be completed?Because sometime it is not
required to complete path of dlci.

Can anybody give me guidence on this topic ?

RE: frame-relay route question [7:8217]

2001-06-13 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

I already configured frame relay ietf encapsulation and lmi disable ( no
keep alives).
In my configuration frame relay cloud get data from s1 with dlci 26 and
gives data on s1 with dlci 27. But in order to this configuration words i
have to configure 2 additional route ( 26 on s1 and 17 on s0 which is not
required for my configuraion). In absence of these route configuratio do not
work.

It means that cisco route configuration can't work if dlci's do not match
and not inverse of each other. All other frame-relay switches ( like
memotec, motrolla ) can works with one way route ad in absence of inverse
dlci route.

>>
>
>Hi John,

When you set up your frame relay network you have to be sure to give
your
interface a dlci and tell it where to go...like you have below...s0 use
dlci
16 to the frame cloud which uses dlci 26 to get to s1. But then you
have to
tell s1 that it needs to use dlci 26 to get back to the frame cloud
which
uses dlci 16 to get back to s0. What you have is serial 1 send down
dlci 27
to the frame cloud and forward down s0 on dlci 17. If you do an show
frame
pvc on the routers attached on s1 and s0 you will see that one has dlci
16
assigned and the other has dlci 27 assigned. But the frame is trying
to
send data to them on dlci 26 and dlci 17 which they dont know about.

so you just need to make sure that your dlci's match and that are an
inverse
of each other.

Here is the output from my current lab:

c4500#sh frame route
Input Intf Input Dlci Output Intf Output Dlci Status
Serial1 102 Serial3 201 active
Serial2 103 Serial3 301 active
Serial3 201 Serial1 102 active
Serial3 301 Serial2 103 active

good luck,

Don

If you are connecting to a non-Cisco device you need to set the frame
relay encapsulation type to ietf and the LMI type to ANSI. The
defaults
are cisco encapsulation type and cisco LMI, neither of which will that
device understand. Try that change and let's see if that resolves the
issue. If not, please let us know.

Frame Relay Network [7:8381]

2001-06-13 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

I want some help regarding connecting cisco routers across a frame relay
based TDMA ( Time Division Multiple Access ) Network. In TDMA network,
main site (hub) is connected to different remote site having remote unit
(each site has differet DLCI). At main site there are two different path, one
for transmission (Tx) and other for Receive (Rx). So at main site a Frame
Relay switch is used to switch data from TX and RX path to DTE device ( e.g
Cisco router). Currently a main cisco router is connected to switch port and
differnt remote router connected to remote terminal (star topology).
The configuration used is at main site subinterfaces are reated for each
remote site and set specific interface dlci for each subinterface).

Configuration at main router

interface s0
encapsulation frame-relay
no keep-alive ( as TDMA has lmi disabled)
no ip address

interface s 0.1
ip addr 192.168.21.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 17

interface s 0.2
ip addr 192.168.22.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 18

and so on as depend on number of remote sites.

Cofiguration at remote sites

interface s 0
encapsulation frame-relay
no keep-alive
no ip address

interface s0.1
ip addr 192.168.21.2 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 17

and same at all remote site routers.

How can I replace frame relay switch by using two serial port of Cisco
router and route data from both TX and Rx path to LAN ethernet port?
I want to eliminate switch and want to take same work with cisco router.

My understanding is that cisco router works as frame relay switch by
receiving data of a specific dlci from a serial port and swich to different
serial port with a differnt or same dlci. Can Cisco router transmit and
receive data of same dlci at different serial ports and route these data to
LAN ethernet interface?

STRANGE PROBLEM in updating EIGRP routes [7:37055]

2002-03-02 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Dear All
I am facing a strange problem in 1751 routers.
In a simple scenario in which two 1751 are connected with over a channel with
serial port and eigrp is used for routing.

Router 1
s 0/0 ip addr 192.168.10.1
fe 0/0 ip addr 192.168.1.1

Router 2
s 0/0 ip addr 192.168.10.2
fe 0/0 ip addr 192.168.2.1

both router get the routes of remote LAN and any machine on 192.168.1.0 (R1)
network ping all machines on other 192.168.2.0 (R2) network. Configurtion on
both routers have been saved.

But the Promlem is that when any one of the router reboot/power cycle then it
do not send its routes to other router but gets the routes of remote router
and also it shows other router as eigrp neighbor.
It means that when R1 reload/power cycle then after comleting reload it
shows
routes of 192.168.2.0 but R2 remote router does not shows route of
192.168.1.0. Eigrp configuration is present on both routers and both routers
shows other router as their eigrp neighbor. Both routers shows Eigrp
configuraton in sh run configuration

To solve this problem, eigrp configuration has to be removed from R1 and
reconfigured then it becomes OK.

no router eigrp 100
router eigrp 100
network 192.168.10.0
network 192.168.1.0

Is anybody knows about this problem? Is there any bug in IOS? The router
configuration is very simple and working perfectly on other 2500 series
routers.

Problem with Console Port

2000-08-19 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Hi ,

I am facing a problem with my 2501 router. It was working fine, but for
the last few days I am not able to connect to the console port of the
router. It shows nothing on the screen when I try to connect and press
enter. When I checked the Signal level of the console port on my Break Out
box, it showed me the continuous LOW status of TxD signal. When I reboot the
router, it shows me the startup messages and finally after showing all those
messages it hangs and TAKES NO INPUT from the HYPER TERMINAL. I have also
tried many terminal Software like Telix, Teraterm.

The router has no prior configurations (as I did an ERASE STARTUP
CONFIGURATION before), so I am not able to connect via TELNET or AUX port.

Is there any way out???

Can I replace NVRAM of this router with any other NVRAM having configuration
and then connect with the router with AUX port or via TELNET?
Is NVRAM Of 2501 router replaceable?

Khurrum

help required in configuring frame relay traffic shaping [7:44394]

2002-05-17 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Hello
Can anybody tell me any mistake or missing configuration for frame relay
traffc shaping?
I connected two cisco 2600 router serial interfaces throug 32 k link. I
configured point to point frame relay subinterface on both interfaces. I
want to use this link on CIR 16k and peak rate 32k.

My configuration is

On interface

   frame-ralay traffic shaping

and on subinterface

   frame-relay class cisco

and for map-class

map-class frame-relay cisco
frame-ralay traffic-rate 16000 32000
frame-relay adaptive-shaping becn

and I also tried

map-class frame-relay cisco
frame-ralay cir 16000
frame-relay bc 2000
frame-relay be 2000
frame-relay adaptive-shaping becn

Problem is that when I run data on line e.g. file transfer, bandwidth uses
always 16k or less although no other data run on ckt and total
available bandwidth is 32 k. The data rate does not reach to peak rate and
if I remove traffic shaping then total 32 k used. Is any missing parameter
or command in above configuration?

voice and 802.11b [7:45342]

2002-05-29 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Can we use voice through Wireless Ethernet Bridge (like cisco Aironet )? Is
is possible to use voice if two cisco router having voice module and FXO/FXS
are placed on two location connected through wireless bridge? I read that
802.11b has a drawback of lack of interoperability with voice devies.

regards

DIAL Backup of Wireless VLAN [7:20058]

2001-09-15 Thread Khurrum Shahzad

Hi all
I want help regarding my scenario which is as follows.
I have one central and tow remote sites. Both two remote sites are connected
with central through Wireless Ethernet Bridge (high speed).
At Central site Ethernet cable from both Wireless Bridge are connected to
switch and Cisco 2620 is used for routing between 3 different VLAN ( two for
remote and one for central).

So at central site I have 3 sub interface on Fast Ethernet each having IP
address of separate net.

I also require Sync Dial Backup for each remote site. So I placed one 1601
and Sync dialup modem on each remote site and dialup modems at central
connected with sync port of 2620.

But I can't understand how to configure online (automatic) backup because if
any of wireless link will break or down, Ethernet ports will not down and
dialer will not initiate.

Also for manual backup, if I manually dial to central site from any remote
site then after connected to central, I have same IP net on both site of
link,
it means Ethernet port of 1601 and fast Ethernet port of 2620 have Ethernet
IP
from same net.

Can anybody guide me how I run my main links on Wireless Ethernet Bridge and
backup link on dialup with routers?

Network diagram of my setup is at

Re: DIAL Backup of Wireless VLAN [7:20058]

To which net I configure as my interesting packet because both net of my
remote site LAN is also on sub interfaces of my Central site Fast Ethernet
Interface. I can't define route to a net which is also on my directly
connected interface.

default
route as your interesting packet.
