Does anyone know of any websites with an easy to follow guide, or easy steps for creating 'client to Pix VPN' ??? I'm having difficulty setting this up ... I've even tried PPTP with no authentication without success ... I am using ver 6.1 for the Pix and 3.5 for the Cisco VPN client ... Any help or suggestions would be greatly welcomed ... Re: CCIE written and BOSON tests [7:2840]
TEST scott mann wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Pre-CCIE written folks, Instead of continually responing to the same question, I will answer it here: I passed the CCIE written by using ALL 3 of the BOSON tests. I cannot really say which test had more questions in relation to the actual exam, but suffice it to say that instead of asking me which one of the three is the best, you should plunk down the measly $90 and buy all three. Isn't the point of this to gain knowledge and become excellent at what you do through that knowledge? Spend time going through all 600+ questions(some are repetitive) and learn not only the answers, but the why; use the referenced links to Cisco's website and/or Caslow book. You can never study too much material as long as it's relevant to your future success. Right? Oh, and don't take this to mean that the BOSON's will be enough to pass alone, you need some good fundamentals in networking and a couple of the better books out there. I suggest the new CCIE TCP/IP volume II book by Cisco Press, and Volume II caslow book. Read and remember! Re: OT:There is always a New Kid on the Block (CIsco) [7:2613]
Hi, I think the one major difference between Cisco certs and the others you mention are the others are vendor specific. Cisco's certs deal with many RFC based technologies (to many to mention) that are used by almost every Networking Vendor out there. Although their are definite slants on some Cisco products the overall understanding, knowledge, and experiences you get from obtaining the Cisco certifications can be applied to almost any Network. I bet they won't have as good an interface though!! ccnawan wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Hi all, A few days ago there was a thread about the value of cisco certs, and how they were a lot of people pursuing them now. My first recollection of IT, was when Big Blue was King, my oldest brother would bring some of the IBM computer punch cards home from his job. Nobody could touch IBM then. That was still true when I started out in IT in 1981. A couple years later the new kid on the block was Novell Netware, and everybody including me wanted to be a CNE. I pursued my Netware certs. Then, we started hearing rumblings about Microsoft NT. You had to be a MCSE, if you did you could name your price, and that was true. As it was when Netware 2.1 first came out nobody knew about NT, so I followed the new kid and got a job in a NT shop. Well, now it is Cisco, no disrespect, I am a (Cisco reseller) and a few years as technology changes, it will be someone else maybe Juniper. After 20 years in IT nothing has changed, you must be prepared to learn new technology, keep your ear to the ground for the new kid on the block, he is coming soon, to a neighborhood near you.. I love computers. Re: CCIE written test questions [7:2497]
TCP Slow Start is a term used to describe TCP's windowing mechanism and the process that it goes throught to expand and contract the window size. It describes how TCP starts out with a small window size and slowly increases it. Then, upon loss of data will immediately reduce this window only to slowly ramp it up again. Hope this helps... scott mann wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Hello all, I have three questions that I cannot seem to find the answer to. PPP Dialin no post dial in screen
Hello Maybe someone can help. I have a 2620 set up to recieve incoming ppp dialin sessions and assign both IP and chap authentication locally. This all works fine and I have to fill in the windows dialin screen with relevent username and password and then the post dialin terminal screen also. I don't however wish to have the post dialin screen to have to do the username and password all over again but when I remove it from the dialin settings it doesnt work. Basically it sits there saying veryifying username and password on my windows screen for a minute or so before bombing out. Doing a debug ppp authentication gives me nothing which makes me think the username and password isn't even getting there. How do I automate this process so that I don't have to have the post dialin terminal screen??? Thanks Paul Doyle CCNP _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Remote Dialin - HELP!
Hello I am having some difficulty getting my head around a problem when I set up a user to dialin to our access-server via a modem connection using PPP. If I set the access server to assign an address froma local-pool or a default address there is no option for setting Mask and Default gateway. Which means when I dial in I get an incorrect mask and a gateway of the assigned address. It's slowly driving me nuts. even if i set the address remotely by using ppp address in the post dial terminal screen i still get no option for mask etc. Am I missing something obvious? Please put me out of my misery. TIA Paul _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
