frame relay vpn config [7:66357]

2003-03-27 Thread dayo olabisi
Hi Listers,

Router C has 2 sub-ifs: s0/0.1 has a PVC connected to
router A, and s0/0.2 has a PVC connected to router B.

I want to configure a shared-secret VPN/IPSEC tunnel
between C and A/B.

Ideas, sample configs or references would be
appreciated.

cat6500 ethernet module question [7:62063]

2003-01-28 Thread dayo olabisi
Hello listers,

does anyone know the technical difference between the
ws-x6148-rj-45 and ws-x6348-rj-45 modules for the
cat6500 switches?

the price difference is very significant though the
documentation on Cisco's web site doesn't show any
technical difference.

Rgds,
dayo

Hey,

upgrade the OS on the switch to 6.3.6 / 7.2.1 or
higher and you should be fine. Check out the last
section of this url:

Trying to test HSRP between 2 Cat4006s running IOS
 12.1(8a)EW1.

'Sho standby brief' says that the vlan routing never
 gets switched over to
standy router and stays in the INIT state.

Rtr 1 is standby for VLAN2
Rtr 2 is active for VLAN2

 perform a shutdown on interface VLAN2 on rtr 2;

'sho stand brief' gives no ip addresses for active
 and standby rtrs., but
 instead both say INIT.

 Any ideas?

Bill,

telnet won't work if the router isn't up... I think
connecting via the Aux port may be of help.

I believe the config-register is stored in NVRAM.
 So in theory, if you
bypass the startup config, you may default to the
 standard
config-register settings. Haven't tried it though
 to know for sure.
Have you tried booting into rommon(control-break
 sequence) and then
 stepping through the confreg steps?

   Hi,
I got a mc3810 router and was running perfect.
 Sometime ago I
mistakenly typed a confreg value which I do not
 remeber exactly but
   I know it was
 not
 a
relevant one. I was actually practicing with the
 confreg entries.

What happened was that after I just rebooted the
 router I lost the
 console
screen. I tried with all sorts of console port
 values like changing
the baud-rate, start stop bit etc.

I found it was responding to 1200 baud speed but
 all I could find is
 some
corrupted and garbled ascii characters on the
 Teraterm. Same is the
   case with hyprterm.

   Any helpers please...

   thanks

Hi listers,

I want to do some form of queueing on sub-interfaces
on some of my routers. Each subif maps to a frame
dlci.

does any one know of a feature in IOS that can help?
most queueing mechanisms I've come across work only on
interfaces (not subifs.)

thx,

Speaking of syslog, if a syslog daemon is running on
 a unix machine, is
 that
all that needs to happen for it to collect messages.
  I can get a Kiwi
syslog program to work, but if I have a customer set
 up syslog on unix,
nothing is in the logs, even though the router
 claims to have sent him
messages (and all connectivity is working).

I had that problem sometimes back. upgrade the ios on

it's a little bug in ios.
