About RSVP

2001-02-22 Thread jromero

Hi all.
I have a question about RSVP.

As far as I know, RSVP is an unidirectional signaling protocol, in the way
you specify only one information flow (one sends and other receives).

In a scenario like a VoIP network (for instance) where every conversation
implies two information flows, I guess you must specify two reservations
working with RSVP, one for one information way, and other for the other
information way.

I would thank if someone could please contrast this information.

Thank you all

About Point2Point Links and Bandwidth

2001-03-09 Thread jromero

Hello everyone.

I have a question about layer 2 encap. for WAN Point-to-Point links (PPP,
HDCLC, SDLC).

Are all of them full-duplex? If the question is yes, does this mean that if
I have an E1 connection (for instance) with a carrier I can say I have
2Mbps for inbound traffic and 2Mbps for outbound?

Thanks in advance.

One Ethernet port supporting several VLANs

2000-09-15 Thread jromero

Hi.

I have to connect a Catalyst 2900XL with several VLAN?s defined to a
router, for routing goals between them.
However I want to connect only one port in the switch (trunk port with ISL
or dot1q) to only one ethernet port in the router, making subinterfaces.

Does anyone knows what Version of IOS must be running in the router or what
kind of router (model) or card supports the frame tagging for this issue.

Thanks.
Best regards.
Juanjo

Traffic modeling for design purposes

2000-10-09 Thread jromero

Hi everyone.

Does anybody know an article, whitepaper, book...where I can find traffic
modeling (for protocol IP mainly) for capacity planning designs? I mean a
way for designing trunk capacities, known speed access of remote users and
their connection profile, just in the same way you can design a voice
network with an Erlang model.

Thanks a lot.

WFQ does it.
Take a look at QoS Solutions configuration guide in Cisco Web site and you?ll find it.

Hi all.

I would thank a lot if someone could give me any kind of information about
third-party software for Windows OS family for providing a way of
user/password authentication in environments in wich the connection to the
ISP is "always on".

Thanks a lot.
