Thanks

ATM PVC VBR

2001-02-07 Thread mak

Dear all,

I would like to know is it any difference between two method of
configuring PVC
1. atm pvc 32 1 32 aal5snap 32000 32000
2. pvc 1/32
.
.

I am using method one, I have a problem is that I built a PVC between
two routers (12008 and 7507) running BGP, in-between is carrier network.
And the setting of carrier is VBR, I have set PVC on both routers as
VBR. Once I have booted up 7507, the speed is fast and normal, but after
several minutes, the speed is very slow. However, if I configure CBR -
within the range of VBR's SCR, the speed is normal and fast.

Is it any parameters I need to concern when I configure VBR?

Thanks

Yes, but if not this situation, then it would be strange.

Also, I would like to ask one question regarding to OSPF database to
clarify my concept.
Suppose I have a circular connection with several routers configuring
OSPF in same area. And there are three pairs A&B, C&D, E&F.
And suppose there is a static route in A and B for pointing to the
firewall within the same subnets as A&B, and also redistribute static
subnets in OSPF in A and B. Is it correct if I just can see only one
entry, suppose say advertised from A in OSPF database for all routers,
but not two entries that advertised from A and B in OSPF database?

Thanks

mak

OSPF redistribution [7:2909]

Hi all,

I have a question is that

In the existing network all routers are running OSPF and "redistribute
static subnets" are already configured. If I add one more static route
in one of the routers. Am I right that there is change in OSPF database,
then it would trigger to flush the routing table and also the other OSPF
routers in the network?
However, I always need to "clear ip route *" in some routers for quicker
response.

Thanks

About access-list

Hi,

any command to "enable" using ip extended access-list?
It is because when I add an ip access-group for standard access-list on

access-list on an interface,
I even cannot ping out.

Re: About access-list

2000-09-26 Thread Raymond Mak

Hi,

Once I apply the extended list on an interface for "IN" traffic, is it
implicitly block all incoming traffic on that interface?

I also want to know, for example.
access-list 110 permit tcp any any neq telnet

1. ip access-group 110 in
2. ip access-group 110 out

For 1, the source (any) would be internal network, destination (any) would
be outside.
Is it, for 2, the source would be outside network, destination would be
internal network?
Am I wrong with this kind of "point of view"?
Thanks

Raymond

BGP problem

2000-10-02 Thread Raymond Mak

Hi,

I have local and global connection to Internet.
When I trace from local site to internal network, it passes through
local connection, and when I trace from global site to internal network,
it can pass through global connection. But the strange thing is when I
trace from internal network to local site and global site, it all passes
through global connection.
How can I configure to make it works when trace from internal network?
Are the "distribute-list" and "route-map" configuration (not my config.)
make it bad? Actually what exactly are they?

Thanks

Regards,
Raymond

Question, Need Help

2000-10-26 Thread Raymond Mak

Hi,

I have a 7500 series router. There are three interfaces, one is serial,
FE and atm. And only ATM port is using private IP. I have one PC with
ATM adapter connect to the ATM port through a ATM switch (non-cisco). I
can Ping from PC to the ATM port, but I cannot ping the other two
interfaces, even I have added OSPF.
What is the problem? Is the IOS do not let me do it this way because of
the private address?

Thanks you for your help

Raymond Mak

CCIE Lab Scenarios - CCBootcamp Or Solution Lab [7:4586]

2001-05-15 Thread Kin Mak

Hello All,

After spending over $25K of my own money on Cisco training within the past
18 months, my budget is running tight. Please let me know if it is worth it
to penny pinch and save to purchase the ccbootcamp labs ($650+shipping) or
solution lab's labs ($189). Is the Solution Lab's labs sufficient enough for
practice to cover the lab test? Any comments and recommendation will be much
appreciated.

Thanks,

Kin

Re: CCIE Lab Scenarios - CCBootcamp Or Solution Lab [7:4586]

2001-05-15 Thread Kin Mak

No! $25k and I am still not ready. These are just training classes to
learning the necessary Cisco requirements for the lab exam. You still have
to put in practical lab hours and these labs put you a step closer in
passing the exam. There are a lot of people in this group that have spent
more money and have on the job experience. Unfortunately for me I only have
limited on the job experience. Everybody's road to CCIE is different. For me
its a long and hard road. The only way I see myself achieving CCIE is to
burn the midnight oil putting in a lot rack time working on these labs.

Thanks for your advice anyway.

Hi,

Would someone can tell what is the difficulty of the exam?
And also I have a quick look on the book "Cisco WAN Quick Start", but it
