c & d,

because EtherChannel improves both performance and availability. It gives
additional bandwidth, by bandling up to 4 (2x or 4x) continuous for
"simple" switches,
or up to 8x non-coninuous on Catalyst 6000 both FEC or GEC interfaces,
or 12 or 24 FEC on Catalyst 5000 and 5500 Series.

Re: x.25 question help

2000-11-22 Thread xndr

Hi!

X.25 is a set of CCITT recomendations for transmitting dato over PDNs
protocol suit, including OSI Layers: Physical, Datalink & Network.

The speed is on Physical Layer. At the physical layer, the X.25 standard
assumes an X.21 interface, but can also support V.35 and the EIA RS232-D
interfaces.

X.21 bis is up to 19,2 Kbps, V.35 is up to 2Mbps, and RS232 is up about
115,200 or something like this.

1.Has anyone else implemented VOIP in slow links successfully?
2.Is anyone else having QOS problems with their VOIP implementations?
3.Do I need to prioritize the voice traffic through the local network?
4.Has anyone tried turning off traffic shaping and letting the voice and

Re: how to update my IOS for 2501?

2000-12-05 Thread xndr

The Cisco 2500 series routers run from flash. IOS protects itself from
disaster situtions and tels you READ-ONLY :-)
So you can't simply erase it in normal working mode. Get in BOOT monitor and
DL image from tftp server or through console's xmodem.

Hi!

Better get proper topics from CVOICE 2.0 course and find out proper
documents.
And experience and more practice are helpful.
I 'm 3 years of VoX implementation and passed CVOICE 2.0 with 880 / 1000
points.

Re: simulating delay on Cisco routers in test bench

2000-12-06 Thread xndr

Hi!

On Ethernet it's impossible without some kind of repeater or low-end
gateways.

Try to configure NT server with two Ethernet NICs on i386 computer and try
to load it with many computation and bus manipulating - you'll get PROPER
delay.

On Serial 'clock rate' is helpful, but real satellite delay is longer.

Cisco 1750-2V and 4V are already packed with 24MB DRAM and 8MB Flash

You will need 16 MB Flash or 32MB DRAM only if you would use experemental or
early deployment Cisco IOS 12.x.

Hi!

EIGRP also as IGRP does not allow you to use 'OSPF-like' syntax for
network-area advertisements.
The router's IOS is right and points you to your fail.

For future command syntax please refer to

An One-to-one broadcasting is an unisating :-)
Frame-Relay is a good example for Non-Broadcast Multiple Access (NBMA)
network.
It is tied to PVC and SVC concept that supports only point-to-point or
multipoint technique of connectivity.

Sometimes wrong term of "star topology" is used to name FR, the term
"hub-and-spoke" is more correct for these purposes.
