I don't think this is the case. I've only had 4000's & 4500's in my home lab, but I'm pretty sure you can do 16 FLASH (2 bays). The "M" models for sure can do 32 RAM (even the 4000M). The max IOS for that router "currently" is 12.1(9) & the Enterprise Plus requires 8F/16R. Yes- the 2500, 2600, 3600, & 4000M (or above models) work together fine. The 2500 series FLASH is more expensive because it's has a quicker rate (can't remember if these are measured in nanoseconds). Anywho- the cheaper 2600/3600 FLASH works fine. The 2500 will only run the faster 2500 version FLASH. All the best !!! I have a quick question: Is the flash in the 4000m router the same as the 2600/3600? I see some ppl on ebay selling flash saying that it's compatible with all three of those models. Yet, other ppl tell me the 4000 has the same flash as the 2500???
