Sell 3 of the switches and buy a Cat 5k, a 4000 or 7000, cables, and the CCIE all-in-one Lab study guide. Ignore the text, do the labs. You will also need Token Ring - important, because if you've never brought it up, you'll need to do it and be able to troubleshoot it, too. Here's a link to the actual parts list in the lab - however, you can do it with whatever 'parts' you come across, too (I have 4500's instead of the 2500's in some cases) http://www.cnl.ncsu.edu/ccie/cciefaq/#equip -e- - Original Message - From: Hire, Ejay To: Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2001 6:50 AM Subject: RE: CCIE Lab Construction [7:9092] Sell 3 of the switches and buy a Cat 5k, a 4000 or 7000, cables, and the CCIE all-in-one Lab study guide. Re: CCIE Lab Construction [7:9092]
You will need a frame-relay switch, 1 or 2 WIC-2Ts for the Frame switch and WIC-1Ts for the spokes will allow you the frame cloud, you may also want to get the NM-8A/S module (8 Async ports), pop that into your frame switch and get an octal cable and you now have a Terminal server + Frame switch in one router. That's just one suggestion -Russ Ken Browne wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Hello. I've recently come into four Cisco 2621's and four Cisco 2924 switches. Re: CCIE Lab Construction [7:9092]
Ken, I'd recommend the following: 1) Make sure your routers (memory) can run at least 11.2 enterprise plus IOS 2) Add a 2522 for a frame-switch (or a sim. 25xx router) 3) Add a 2509/2510/2511/2512 for a reverse telnet box 4) Add a 2513 5) Add a cat5k 6) Add an ISDN simulator and the appropriate WICs for your 2621 routers That should do the trick! Then rent some online rack time for the ATM and VoIP portion (or dish out some more cash for the voice modules for the 2621s). Feel free to give me a call if you need further assistance. Re: CCIE Lab Construction [7:9092]
Ken, Congratulations on the equipment. Those are some great pieces. I suggest setting up the 2621's with Enterprise w/FS Plus IPSec. Check memory requirements before loading and compare with your memory/flash installed. With it you can experiment with CBAC, which provides a firewall similar to the PIX. I recommend getting (2) other routers if possible. The 4000's are good buy now with 4 serial port module installed (to use as a frame switch), and a termserver. A 2509/2511 is recommended, but a 508/516 will work as second choice. Just start checking out labs at www.fatkid.com or in the All-in-One CCIE LAB book and you will setup your lab many ways doing the labs.
