Framesaver CSU Cable Question ? [7:31427]

2002-01-09 Thread Stefan Dozier

I just picked up a Paradyne 9120 Framsaver CSU and while researching
the cable I need to connect to a router I came across a possible
alternate cable I wasn't aware of.

The CSU came with a v.35 adapter (I was actually expecting a
pigtail) but the adapter will work just fine, so I know that
the CAB-V35MT MALE DTE V35 10 FT cable is the one I would
normally use with the adapter.

What I wasn't aware of is the CAB-530MT MALE DTE RS-530 10 FT cable
which appears to allow me to connect directly to the CSU's 25 pin
Port#1 or Port#2 connection and forego the v.35 adapter!

Can anyone confirm my suspicions that the CAB-530MT will work for
this application? The way I figure, the more pieces I can eliminate,
the easier it becomes to troubleshoot if problems arise!

-Stefan

I am not an expert in your CSU, but you want to be absolute sure about what
the 25 pin interface on it is. It could be either RS-323 or RS-530, and the
two cables are not wired the same.

2002-01-09 Thread Stefan Dozier

Ole

I have the pdf Technical reference document from Paradyne's website
available and it indicates that the interface is a EIA-530a.

From the tech reference:

EIA-530A Port 1 or 2 Interface Cable
The following table shows the EIA-530A circuit and pin assignments that are
supported for a port connector/interface ( Port 1 or Port 2).

I'm making the assumption that EIA-530 and RS-530 are one in the
same...but you know what happens when one assumes :-)

Anyway I'm relatively sure that the CAB-530MT cable will work, but
I was hoping for solid confirmation from someone out there actually
using the CAB-530MT in lieu of the CAB-V35MT/Adapter or pigtail
cable, either in a lab environment or in production.

BTW: RS-323 ??? Is that a RS-232 mistype!

Re: Cable Question

2000-08-17 Thread Tristan . Liu

Crossover cable is having pin1,2 connect to pin 3,6 at the other end, and
vice versa.
(example of usage: connect 2 computers without a hub or a switch)

1 3
2 6
3 1
6 2

Rollover cable is having pins connect at reverse order.
(example of usage: connect to console port of router or switch)

1 8
2 7
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1

Hope this helps

RE: cable question

2000-08-15 Thread Yee, Jason

I think you are right, think in the angle of transmit receive and router
ports does not do flipping of transmit receive, that's why we use straight
cables between them

I was taught this by Leigh Anne Chisholm, she gave me a good explanation and
I am now applying it hopefully you understand what I say

cable question

2000-08-14 Thread Jason

hi , sorry to trouble you guys again

but anyway here is my problem :

I have a question about the equipment we currently have. The HSSI cable

included for connecting the Newtec demodulator to the router is quite short.

As the maximum spec for HSSI is 50 feet, I would like to know where we could

avail of one that long, or at least around 20 feet. This is because we are

redesigning our data center and want to locate the router further away from

the satellite kit.
