Cisco 4000M
How much do you guys think a 4000M with 16MB ram and 4MB of flash with no modules is worth. And how much would a dual serial module cost me. Or better question would be would you go with a 4000M or an AGS for frame relay switch. Re: Cisco 4000M
Brian I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the past couple of days. I have another question. I noticed routers like the 2507 going for about $500-$600 bucks. I may be missing something here but isn't the 2507 just a 2501 with a built in hub. If so, why do they sell for less than the 2501. So let me tell you what you want to pay: 4000M 16/4 $400-$500 np-2T $100-$120 An AGS is going to be cheaper, yes. I bought a 4 port serial for my AGS for $50. Cables were $200 (for 4, dce/dte). AGS+ is loud, its big, its ugly, but it works. You can add all kinds of things, token ring, ethernet, etc, for pretty cheap. The 4000M has some modules the ags doesn't have. Its more compact, its more expensive, it runs more modern ios etc. an AGS with CSC/4, 4 serials, 4 cables, etc, etc everything you need for a frame switch, is going to be $300-$500 probably (keep in mind cables are $48 each or so and I included that in that price). 4000M 4 port serial is $400 (np4t). 4000M just to do frame swithching would be $800-$1000. Closer to $1200 if you want the 2 port ethernet as well. People "know" what a 2501 is, so they search for it and try to get one, not realizing that things like the 2503 and 2507 are actually a 2501 and then some. 2501 is a legend, it has history, so it sells for a premium..its a good box though. $500 for a 2507 is a great price. *For Sale* Cisco 4000M+
I have a Cisco 4000 M+ router for sale that I have been using in my lab for about a year and a half. The memory has been upgraded to 16/16/4 and it is in great shape. It has 2 network modules in it. a 2 port ethernet and a 2 port serial. I also have a console cable kit to give with it. I will include a 16 port hub, 5 CAT 5 cables, power cord and a 50 pin to 60 pin cross over cable. I also have a couple other goodies to throw in :-) I have some digital photos I can send if you want to see it. I am asking $1000 including shipping or the first person to offer me a reasonable good deal If no one is interested by Monday I am going to list on Ebay.
