Passed BCMSN today [7:14255]
64 questions, 75 minutes 699 to pass, scored 879 Comments: 1. Poor wording. 2. 3 duplicate questions - exactly the same. It's like double jeopardy. If you know the answers, great. Otherwise, you lose twice as fast! 3. Boson: bought BOSON test #2. Didn't help much directly on my exam but it's very helpful for learning the materials. Materials used: 2 Cisco Press books BOSON Test #2 CBT Classroom training (1 yr ago) Plus experience Jianliang Li __ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! Cisco press book had several of the questions in it directly, It was almost like I saw them before the test on some of them. Very strange... I used Sybex, and Cisco Press to study, but that is my typical MO I do not use any Boson or any other practice tests... But have heard that the Troy Techs are worthless from a few people. I will be taking the remote access test next friday, and then all I will have left is the Support for CCNP, and then I will knock out the CCDA and CCDP real quick... I have heard if I study for the CCDP, then I am well on my way for the CCIE 1. Poor wording. 2. 3 duplicate questions - exactly the same. It's like double jeopardy. If you know the answers, great. Hello groupies, I had been a silent observer in the group study list. Just coming back after passing the Switching 2.0 exam today. Total 64 questions. Scored 857 to pass. Passing score 699. Here is an overview. If this can be useful for some other test takers, I would be happy. Questions were grouped as: 1. CGMP 2. Cisco Fundamentals. 3. Trunking 4. Multicasting 5. Multilayer Switching 6. Spanning Tree 7. Switching Interconnectivity 8. VLAN Operations 9. Troubleshooting. There were some set based and IOS command questions on the CGMP, Multicasting, and MLS. Other than that all other questions were general. Two questions were sitters like just typing the values from a given list ;-) and couple of questions were repeated, I should say 2 of them atleast. Had taken the CCNA in Apr 2000. Was able to take the first exam on CCNP only now due to time constraints and lot of other reasons. I studied Cisco Press Books BCMSN by Karen Webb and the Switching Bible by Kennedy Clark and Kevin Hamilton. Of course, I should say my 5 year experience with Cisco Routers and Switches also helped a lot. Thanks to Mr. Kennedy for making my STP concepts clear. I should also thank the person who made the set based command test software. Sorry I forgot his name. I remember him being a programmer too. The software tester made me to remember the set based commands clearly. Some of my doubts were cleared by the group study list even before asking them. Thanks to all the gurus on this list like Howard, Lady PO ( saying as Lady PO refering your post on the age being in hex :-)). Keep the good thing going. Now going for the BCRAN. Hopefully you will see another exam overview soon. Cheers !! Sudarshan N Chari -- Share the knowledge with others. That will make your knowledge grow. - Some great guru. __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Way to go! ISDN, ISDN, ISDN, ISDN...Just a hint for your exam! Happy studying! Hey guys, For the most part I've been lurking on this list, but I thought I'd thank everyone for all the good input and conversation that goes on here, and to give anyone who hasn't taken the test yet an idea of what it's like. I scored an 846, 699 is passing, I found the test to be fairly easy and I probably would've scored higher if I had taken my time on it, I was ready to get it over with and pretty much flew through the test. Here's a general breakdown of what I encountered: - A healthy dose of "select the best switch for..." questions, with tiny scenarios and a choice of switches that would best suit the application. - Some general switch management stuff, like setting a switch's IP address, port duplex, etc. - Lots of trunking questions; rules for encapsulation and negotiation, problems that can occur with trunks, etc. - VTP modes, know these fairly well. - Spanning tree port states and timers, as well as spanning tree optimization such as PortFast and UplinkFast, root bridge selection, etc. - Some general MLS stuff, nothing too difficult, mostly multiple-choice commands. - Very little multicast stuff. Nature of multicasts, IP-MAC address translation, CGMP, very little PIM. - Know the rules that apply when connecting switches: port speeds, link lights, etc. - No HSRP questions at all. - No LANE/ATM. Anyway, I hope whoever is planning on taking the test in the near future finds this helpful. Thanks again for some of the good information I've garnered from this list. Now on to BCRAN I suppose. Good luck to everyone in their certification endeavors. ~Seth~ _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
