Re: Passed Cisco MCNS Security Exam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a CCNP and a CCDP and I took the security exam about a year ago and passed it too. I also thought afterwards about pursuing the voice and atm certs but the bottom line is that once you've gotten your NP and DP, the IE is the next big step. The "specializations" are nice but once you get your IE they really don't have alot of weight. I'm coming up on my R S written this friday. The specializations may help a little but the bottom line is you have to know everything about every subject. It's enough to drive you nuts. I'll post my results after the exam. ps: The only time my "specialization" has been useful is when I started to consult. The sales reps would throw it around at a client because it gave them the perception that I was better than the next guy at working on a pix or something. Humbly, I'm not. Re: Passed Cisco MCNS Security Exam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for all the replies in regards to CCNP Specializations. After careful consideration I think for me anyway it would be best to move onto the CCIE written exam. I am just anxious to learn about ATM and Voice over IP, but I feel it would be more affective to do them while studying for the CCIE lab. So i am very proud to be able to say that I am "officially" now working towards my CCIE. Thanks Again for the Input, -Eirc _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Passed Cisco MCNS Security Exam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Charles, I can relate to your position. Just because I have a voice specialization, doesn't really imply by any means that I know voice inside and out. It does however give one an edge over the other guy who may not have as many certs as you do, hence your company might get the business. This is just simply just good job security and gives the customer nice 'warm and fuzzies' that you might know what you are doing. The voice cert will force you to memorize all the codecs (G711,G729,G729a,etc) and their capabilities, so it is helpful to be able to speak intelligently about them. One last thing, the CCIE written wasn't really that hard at all, especially since you have gone though the same battery of tests that I have. I do have one word of advice...KNOW your Token ring and be able to decode them on the fly! I am aware others have beat this point into the ground, but just thought I'd reinforce it. Good Luck! Re: Passed Cisco MCNS Security Exam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eric, Congrats. I was thinking of taking that one as I would rather take 1 than the 4 exams I would have to take in Jan 2001. I passed my voice cert with relative ease using the Boson tests and having access to the course online (Cisco offers it still for FREE via vstream!). Thanks for the feedback on the MCNS test and the Boson prep tool. Regards, Frank Zahrt III CCDP/CCNP (voice), CCIE written --- Eric Gunn [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello, Happy to report I passes MCNS.
