Re: (no subject)

2001-01-21 Thread Tony van Ree

Hi,

Try tracing back to your authenticatioon server once you are into the remote router.
If the access is ok then make sure the remote router knows where the authentication
server is.

eg. tacacs-server host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

It would seem you are getting the last choice to log in.

Just a thought.

Greetings Earthlings!

To all those who mailed, and all those who did not, I plead caffeine
deficiency, which affected my ability to process what I was looking at.

In fact, as some may note, the 'to:' field in my post contains mail
addresses. Folks who are not on the list!

I was so daft as to not realize that I was posting to the group as
opposed to dispatching email. Which was my intent!

Without the requisite 60 oz of Coffee/day, my cranial orb becomes

Why don't you stop wasting bandwidth on answers like you've been providing.
If your going to reply to it at least add some information that the person
was looking for. I'm sure others would agree they don't want to continue to
sort through mails that just say "yes". If your going to contribute then at
least make it meaningful. Thanks in advance...

I'd have no problem providing info IF the same questions weren't asked over
and over again because someone didn't take the time to read the very website
they used to sign up for the list.
I only post a question after I have visited CCO (or in this case, the darn
online bookstores) and not been able to find an answer. If you can't read
the posts, or do a little research on your own before posting, especially
for a presumably CCNA (the guy's asking for CCNP books), then join the darn
Microsoft list where they hand feed you everything.

Hey Guy how are you doing I have a question for you? I hope you can help
My question to you is Layer 3 vlan. I fully understand setting up networks
using subnets and serial ports and Ethernet ports and setting up gateways in
that environment. However, I am having problems understanding the Vlan
default gateway on the end nodes( wk stations) especially when using layer 3
switches eg 6509's. Do you have time to explain or direct me to a web site
that have this information. Write me back directly thanks

Do you understand routing on a stick? Just imagine the MSFC as an external
router with a trunk connection to the switch and sub-interfaces ( VLAN
interfaces ) create for each VLAN. Actually if you do a "sh trunk" on a
cat6k with an MSFC you'll see an ISL trunk to the MSFC.

using subnets and serial ports and Ethernet ports and setting up gateways in
that environment. However, I am having problems understanding the Vlan
default gateway on the end nodes( wk stations) especially when using layer 3
switches eg 6509's. Do you have time to explain or direct me to a web site
that have this information. Write me back directly thanks

If you took the CCNA 1.0 before July 31st you will be CCNA any way. There
are no problem, you keep your certification as CCNA, any way, the CCNA 2.0
is easy, it just ask a little more about concepts and study cases.

1. No. Get the fixed Hyperterminal from www.hilgraeve.com or use something
else, like TeraTerm.

2. www.cisco.com, documentation section...

I am helping to put together a CCIE lab and want to have the ability to
do VoIP. We already have some 2600 and 2500 series routers, what else is
needed? I was looking at some network modules for the 2600s on the
Cisco web site, but I'm not sure what equipment is best suited to
simulate the actual CCIE lab equipment.

Hi, Srivathsan

As I know, Cisco network backdoor command in BGP is to generate a local BGP
route, of which administrative distance is 200. The only difference between
the network and the network backdoor command is that the later route is not
advertised to EBGP peer.

Grant

Re: (no subject) [7:70561]

2003-06-12 Thread chengpeng
there are three kind of administrative distance for BGP:
1. external-distance: 20
2. internal-distance: 200
3. local-distance: 200
you can change that through the "distance bgp external-distance
internal-distance local-distance" command

For BGP the network used by the network x.x.x.x backdoor command will be
treated as a locally assigned network except it will not be advertised via
BGP updates.

2003-06-12 Thread ramesh_cisco
bgp backdoor has got a specific use ..suppose you have a network that you
have learnt both from igp(ospf) & egp(ebgp),

then your router prepers egbp route as it is having less metric .If you want
to force your router to prefer igp router, you need to add router backdoor
entry in bgp config of your router
