Re: 2509 Router configuration

2000-09-13 Thread Kristopher B. Climie

The enternet port on this AS is just 10/half. There is no way of setting it
to full. It is the same as on my 2503. These devices all have the AUI port
on them, with apparently, no support for full duplex.

You can only do this on a 2600 10/100 ethernet series router. Not available on
a 2500 series. 10 half only...

I thing that if you have an interface that supports half duplex even if you
change or upgrade the IOS,
that interface would continue to work half duplex because the hardware
cannot do full duplex !

If you have a 10Mb port on the router then your able to get 10Mb half-duplex
and 20Mb full-duplex.When you set the Ethernet interface to full-duplex
it sets
the port @ 20Mb instead of 10Mb..Hope this helps.

You don't get 20...you get a full 10 one way and 10 back. It's not a good

Also
Why do you want to run at more than 10 meg half duplex?
Even with every other connection (2 sync serial and 9 async) running full
pelt I bet your ethernet port is not a bottleneck.

Thanks

2000-09-14 Thread Plantier, William

The ethernet port on a 2500 series will not do full duplex. I had a customer
who wanted to do 20mg on a 2500 series and it couldnt be done. I got with
Cisco and researched and the the hardware doesnt support it. I only supports
half duplex.

RE: 2509 Router configuration

2000-09-14 Thread Bal Sandhu

Guys,

I had a need to do this on a 2600 not long ago.
There is a version of IOS that allows you to put an Ethernet port into
full-duplex mode.

The version is 12.0(4)T

Whether it works on a 2509, I don't know - worth a try though.

Regards,

Bal
