Look in the archives for a similar discussion. Folks have used racks built
for music equipment.

If you are in the states look for a company called Graybar in the electrical
supply section of the yellow pages. The are a wholesale electrical supply
place that sells retail as well. They carry a lot of wiring stuff you might
need as well. They are not very good priced though.

Guys,

I am really trying to search high and low on the web for a sturdy, neat and
affordable rack system to place my 5 routers on at home, but have been
unsuccessful thus far. Can anyone out there help me?

I do not need anything too commercial because I have a small apartment and
already my wife is complaining that the bedroom looks like an office. I saw

something on blackbox.com but I am not sure if it is suitable enough for
routers. Thanks

I got one of the cases from a music store, I mounted my routers in the same
kind of cases that the music guys use for their road equipment. Check out
www.rondomusic.com and look at their equipment cases. I got a 20U case in
which I have 8 routers with plenty of breathing room. I can also put the
lids on the case to keep the kids out. Prices are pretty good too !!!

Good Luck,

Dennis

Re: Router Rack System - Help

2001-02-24 Thread Nathan

I bought two simple wooden stackable shelves from K-Mart. Less than $20.00 bucks a
piece. Right now it supports 8 routers, a 2924 CAT, 2 Mau's and a bunch of external
modems. I am also opening these things up all the time, upgrading etc so locking them
down to a metal rack in a home lab environment sucks. Don't go all out for an expensive
bulky rack. Spend the money on what counts: the routers. Cisco does not test on how
well
you can screw in routers to a rack.

I agree, but that does offer up a whole thread of potential light
bulb, or raunchier, jokes.
