2001-06-04 Thread Daniel Cotts

On 12.0 see the following. The configuration command is clock rate (speed)

2523(config-if)#clockrate ?
% Unrecognized command
2523(config-if)#clock?
clock

2523(config-if)#clock ?
rate Configure serial interface clock speed

2523(config-if)#clock rate ?
Speed (bits per second)
  300
  1200
  2400
  4800
  9600
  14400
  19200
  28800
  32000
  38400
  56000
  57600
  64000
  72000
  115200

  Choose clockrate from list above

A show run command gives the following:
interface Serial2
 ip address 192.168.1.49 255.255.255.240
 no ip directed-broadcast
 clockrate 64000

Note that clockrate is all one word here.

It must depend on the interface or version of IOS because on my 3640 running
12.04 its clock rate.

Surprisingly enough, It Depends.
CCO claims the command is "clock rate". The online command help claims it
is "clock rate". However the command appears in "sh run" as "clockrate"
(at least on a 4700 and 7500 using IOS 11.2 - it may vary by platform and
IOS for all I know).
I think either variation will be accepted when configuring - I don't have a
convenient box to test it on at the moment.

2001-06-04 Thread Kevin Wigle

You have to remember that when you do a "show run" that the router builds a
set of configuration commands that would create the configuration - not
necessarily what was typed in.

That means that it is very possible that you type in "clock rate" to
configure the router and the IOS portion that implements it understands it.

But the "show run" part of IOS has been programmed to return "clockrate"
when it builds a representation of the configuration.

6 of this or one half dozen of the other - one engineer did it one way and
another engineer didn't read his notes..

Re: serial interfaces [7:7089]

2001-06-05 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've done a quick check on IOS 11.2 and IOS 12.1 - either "clock rate" or
"clockrate" is accepted when configuring the router, although if you use
"clockrate" and don't complete the command properly it claims to be an
unrecognized command. On both IOS it shows in the configuration as
"clockrate".
So, it depends what the original question was actually referring to.
To configure - use either, although you'll get more online help from "clock
rate".
In the "show run" output - "clockrate".
Officially, for exam purposes - don't know, but my guess would be "clock
rate", as that's what's in all the doco.
