Re: Image upgrade on 6509 MSFC2 [7:72959]
Do you want to upgrade the boot image or the ios image ? Alberto J. Garcia wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi all !! I need to make an upgrade on the a 65094s MSFC2 due to sevral crashes I had in the last days. The problem is that the recommended image doesn't fit on the msfc's bootflash. I tried to boot loading the image from the Supervisor slot0: , as suggested on the Cisco manuals, but it was not possible to get the image from there in the boot process. The comand I use : boot system flash sup-slot0:c6msfc2.x.bin , didn't work (taken from Cisco site) This is will not work. You have to save the image in msfc's flash. How big is your flash ? The I tried to load the image from a TFTP server, it also didn't work. What I discover was that the boot image wasn't processing ip !! I wasn't able to even ping the TFTP server. Command used in this case : boot system tftp://a.b.c.d/c6msfc2.x.bin The boot image I used : c6msfc2-boot-mz.121-5c.E8 Plz be sure that you want boot image not ios image. Usually boot image is very small. Regards, NetChild Any help will be appreciatted .. Re: Image upgrade on 6509 MSFC2 [7:72959]
I boot my MSFC2 in the lab off of slot0 and it works fine!! Get a console connection on the sup and do a switch con 15. Then do a reload and see why it is failing. If your MSFC is in the boot mode you do need to bring up an active VLAN or you will never get the image off of the sup-slot0. Dave Alberto J. Garcia wrote: Hi all !! Re: Image file is bigger than flash,How do I solve [7:31977]
You dont choose to boot from network tftp (which can be pain in the butt sometimes, but helpful) I have a few 8 MB Flash modules for 2600 series, let me know if you're interested. Thanks! qin jonson wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... the issue? Hi,everybody. Hope to seek some advise on TFTP a bigger flash to flahs. Re: image checksum error
Bad checksum is produced by corrupt IOS images, incompatible boot ROMs, you FLASH that is bad or incompatible (wrong speed in nanoseconds). You are right, I doubt the images are bad... The problem I am experiencing is no matter version of the feature set I try (I've tried 4 so far), after the image appears to load successfuly from a TFTP server, the router displays the message "Image Checksum Error" and then procedes to boot from ROM. I have enough memory, flash shouldn't be of concern since I'm booting from a TFTP server. So what gives? Anyone else experience this problem? Is it likely I got 4 bad images from Cisco? I got this same error when I tried to boot an image off of tftp. The image was too big to be both stored in and run from RAM. Re: Image
Dear Mr Cisco, I'm afraid you should have read the small print when signing up for Groupstudy.com. Your computer becomes the property of Groupstudy (a mutual society) until such a time as you pass the CCIE certification. If you wish to be removed from the list you must hand over your computer equipment and buy a new one (if required). If you would like someone to collect your equipment knock twice on your front window, you have been under surveillance since you joined. I'm sure you'll agree that the benefit you receive from the group is well worth this small sacrifice. I would say that by the time most people feel they are confident enough to try unsubscribing, they're just about ready for the big cheese anyway. I'm afraid the only way you may be able to get out of this agreement is to go to www.groupstudy.com ,insert your e-mail address and press unsubscribe. In fact on reflection that does seem the easier option, so excuse my ramblings. PS Please also excuse my sarcasm. It stems from the belief that you live too far away to turn up at my house with a baseball bat. Fingers crossed. The web site should do the trick for you anyway. Good luck. Re: Image
did you perhaps mis-type that? should it read IOS image? if that's the case, an "IOS image" is the actual code/program that is loaded into the flash of a router. for IOS version 12.0.7T for example, an image might be "rsp-jsv-mz.120-7.T.bin" (on a 7500) Kevin Wigle - Original Message - From: "Steven Clark" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, 30 November, 2000 20:03 Subject: Image I have a CCNA study book and they talk about the ISO image like I should know what that is.
