RE: LMI question [7:14206]
LMI is a switch to router protocol. sub-interfaces just bind to individual DLCI's. Therefore, they don't have their own LMI configuration. Only the serial trunk does. Re: LMI question [7:14206]
With Frame Relay, even though you can configure sub interfaces to help with routing protocol issues and bandwidth allotment, there is still only one physical connection between your router and your frame provider. The LMI is configured only for that physical connection, not sub-interfaces. Mike W. Re: LMI question [7:14206]
LMI is a signal that the phone company uses to see if the physical circuit and your router are still alive. They usually send the LMI signal on DLCI 0, and your router replies on DLCI 0. On Nortel equipment if you want to see if LMI is up you have to look at the stats for DLCI 0 and see if the number of packets is incrementing. RE: LMI question [7:14206]
LMI type is set on the physical interface only. How could you have multiple LMI types if the interface only has physical connectivity to a single frame-relay switch? Re: LMI question [7:14206]
is this Frame-relay?? You must configure the same LMI type on all interfaces on a given Physical interface I believe.. it makes sense... -- Michael Damkot CCNP Technical Trainer Network Support Engineer II WorldCom Ashburn CTAC ""Wright, Jeremy"" wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... > I am trying to configure a specific sub-interface lmi type as ansi and I am > not finding it on the sub-interface but on the physical interface itself.
