I know that when we went from 4.4(6) up to 5.2(5) we had to input a new Activation key. That was during the old boot from rom mode upgrade. We were running 3DES and Failover on 520's. I have always asked for and received a new code when changing major versions ( from 5 to 6 in my lab ). I didn't change feature sets, I just changed major revision. I may not have needed to when going from 5 to 6, but I know for a fact that the 4 to 5 upgrade wouldn't let me proceed until I had a code. I found that out the hard way at 3:00 am...DOH.. I will downgrade and upgrade and give it a try when I get back from the lab... You don't need a new activation key for the upgrade. Act key is bound to a serial number, so unless you change your PIX, or require some new features enabled on the PIX, you don't need new act key. You do need a TFTP server with the image(s) on in order to use the TFTP
command.
I have not had any problems upgrading to 6.22 - I have a 501.

from. I heard there were issues with 6.22, I might try 6.3 once I get my
