Chuck,
That is why the correct answer is "E" or just "B" if
you have a kind heart 8) Answer "C" of course does the
same thing as 0.0.255.255 for this config.

RE: ospf config [7:26034]

2001-11-12 Thread Chuck Larrieu

guys - there is nothing "wrong" about using the form network 192.168.0.0
0.0.255.255 area x

there is nothing "wrong" with using the form 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 area x

there is nothing "wrong" with using the form 192.168.30.1 192.168.30.1 area
x ( well - maybe 12.x won't let you do this any more. 11.2 did )

all three of those forms will place an interface with the address of
192.168.30.1 into the ospf process ( with the possible exception of the
third. )

2001-11-12 Thread Oscar Valdez

:-)

I said: "here is a sample config:" Modify to your needs, and try it first
before.
I said the wildcard mask is: 0.0.255.255, is correct to the network
192.168.0.0 (/16)
192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255, and all the interfaces that belong to that network
belongs to the OSPF process.
Try with:
#sh ip ospf interface
You have to put some adicional commands, (like ip ospf cost, area 0
authentication, etc. if you want). Read first : www.cisco.com and search:
OSPF
Bye.

RE: ospf config [7:26034]

2001-11-12 Thread Angry Packet

Hmmm, where do I start with this one? You must be
trying to do it by memory and your memory doesn't seem
to work to good.

Actually this would make a good Cisco test question.
The question would be: What change/changes are needed
to make this config work?

A. Change the IP addresses to something that a router
will actually take.
B. Change the "network ospf 10" to "router ospf 10".
C. Change the OSPF wildcard mask on router A to
0.0.255.255 from 0.0.255.255.0.0.
D. Put the IP addresses in the same subnet.
E. Fire the clown that tried to configure the router
like this.
F. All of the above.

The network 192.168.30.0/24 and 192.168.31.0/24
are in different networks, the routers won`t see
each other. Change the netmask to 16 bits.
CDP will finds the other neighbour since it operates
at Layer 2.

I am sorry for a stupid question.
I am trying to set up an OSPF network. So far I am doing from a router
to a router .
Here is what I have:

Router A:
int e0/0
ip address 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0 <<== IP address is not correct - your
IOS accepted this?
ip ospf network poin-to-point <<=== mis-spelled - the IOS should reject
this

network ospf 10
network 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255.0.0 area 0 <<=== your inverse mask in not
correct - how did the IOS EVER accept this?

Router B:
int e0/0
ip address 192.168.31.0 255.255.255.0 <<== IP address is incorrect
ip ospf network point-to-point

network ospf 10
network 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0

When I do sh dcp neigh I can see the router but I can not ping it.
Would you please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance,

CL - in addition, both your ethernet addressees are in different subnets?
you say you can see the other router? how? CDP?

You need to put a host address and not a network address on your ethernet
interfaces and use a proper inverse mask under the ospf process... something
like

Router A:
int e0/0
ip address 192.168.30.1 255.255.255.0

router ospf 10
network 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0
