Definitely !!! You need to use the MZMaker compression program. I =
believe compresses to something like 5 Megs (with a starting size of 10 =
Megs). I upgraded all my 2500's to it, but went back to 12.0(8) =
Enterprise because a few of the token ring routers started hanging on =
reloads.

For sure it will fit on an 8 Meg stick though

RE: Re:12.0.9 Enterprise Plus IOS, 25xx router

2001-03-20 Thread Louie Belt

Let me clarify, I am successfully running c2500-js-l.120-9.bin (Enterprise
Plus IOS) on all five of my Cisco 2500 series routers with 16MB Ram and 8MB
Flash installed in each. I know of 20+ others who are doing the same thing.

The image occupies 6.82 MB of the 8 MB flash. It loads very slow due to the
decompression of the image (it takes 4-5 minutes for the router to load) but
it does work quite well. 12.09 is the newest Enterprise Plus IOS that will
fit in the 8MB of RAM on a 2500. Additionally 12.09 Enterprise Plus IPSec
is too large and won't work.

Here is a screen capture from a 2501 to prove the point:

Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 2500 Software (C2500-JS-L), Version 12.0(9), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

BOOTFLASH: 3000 Bootstrap Software (IGS-RXBOOT), Version 10.2(8a), RELEASE
SOFTW
ARE (fc1)

R1 uptime is 2 minutes
System restarted by power-on
System image file is "flash:c2500-js-l.120-9.bin"

cisco 2500 (68030) processor (revision A) with 16384K/2048K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID 01241162, with hardware revision
Bridging software.
X.25 software, Version 3.0.0.
SuperLAT software (copyright 1990 by Meridian Technology Corp).
TN3270 Emulation software.
Cisco-ET Extended Temperature platform.
1 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)
2 Serial network interface(s)
32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
8192K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

Configuration register is 0x2102

Hope that clears things up.
