Re: packet loss [7:21281]

something that has not been addressed are the NICs in the servers. Compaq
server NICs are particularly bad when using redudant links. It is best
advised that you disable the heartbeats on those puppies and possibley
reboot the server after doing so.

let me know if this works.

 Group,

I have a problem with a certain vlan on our network. The problem goes
 something like this...

I have a vlan105 interface created on a cat 6509. The primary ip address
is
x.x.105.254. The interface has secondary addresses of x.x.155.254,
 x.x.156.254 and x.x.157.254.

Servers on this network are dropping packets, one in particular,
serverA-x.x.155.219, is dropping packets 50% of the time.

Moved the server to a different switch, same vlan105, the problem
continues.

Moved the server to vlan100, it works fine.

Replaced cable and nics. Ensured proper speed and duplex are configured.

No output from a debug vlan or span.

Opened a TAC case a few days ago and the problem still remains.

I just got a suggestion to remove and rebuild the vlan105 interface on the
router. That will happen later this afternoon. Any other suggestions
will
 be greatly appreciated.

 Robert

I had a similar problem once. I have redundant supervisor modules with
msfc's
in the 6509 and had to reboot one of the msfc's in the switch. The reboot
fixed the problem.

Have you checked the routing of this VLAN, if it's consistently dropping 50
% of packets could there be another route which is a blackhole? Have a look
at your routes, access lists and do some traces
