Re: [cisco-voip] centralized vs distributed media resources

2016-11-10 Thread Joshua Warcop

Hey,There's a lot of ways to design, but since the introduction of
video it's popular to centralize conferencing resources. An 8 core Virtual
Telepresence Server can host a lot of audio-only participants. Cisco Meeting
Server is essentially the same concept with centralized resources. It also
depends if PSTN connectivity is distributed or centralized. If it's distributed
there's usually a reason for local DSP resources. Therefore a light amount of
confernecing can be done on the local router. For me it comes down to where to
spend the money.  I would prefer to buy bandwidth for sites and centralized
compute and resources. However, it's really just a matter of preference. Two or
five or ten audio streams across the WAN isn't a big deal to me. When the
conferencing gets above your WAN bandwidth percentage that you've worked out
for audio then it's definitely a different story. Thanks!  On Thu, 10 Nov

Re: [cisco-voip] alternatives to Uplinx?

2016-11-10 Thread Anthony Holloway
That was a strange way to word the email. You like what you see, but you
want an alternative?

I have an aversion to using an Uplinx report for an as-built, as it doesn't
enable you to see the forest for the trees. Just running SELECT * FROM
numplan WHERE tkpatternusage = 3, and cramming all Translation Patterns
into 90 pages of an MS Word document, is not exactly an as-built.

That's more a problem of the usage of the tool, and not the tool itself.
In fact, the tool seems to be built really well, and it's very
customizable. Oh, and I do like how it provides explanations for each
section of the report.

What is the problem you're looking to solve with Uplinx or another similar
tool?

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend some options for IM search / recall?

I think there might be some dev software that was published on the forums once.
But am also looking for recommendations for paid solutions. I reached out to a
company called Verba but have not had a response.

Are there any solutions that do both IM search / compliance and also call
recording (other than Verba).

Cheers

disable port-fast?

My recommendation isn't an all-in-one

For call recording, can you use MediaSense? Easy to setup and works fairly well
(using BiB or SPAN based recording).

For IM search; are you saying you have the 3rd party database now, and are
looking for away to search the database?

I think there might be some dev software that was published on the forums once.
But am also looking for recommendations for paid solutions. I reached out to a
company called Verba but have not had a response.

Are there any solutions that do both IM search / compliance and also call
recording (other than Verba).

That is not nice at all :(

Did you figure out a way to prevent it from switch side?

Yes it will create a loop. Not a fun time trying to track these things down.
I've had some non-Cisco IP phones completely down a LAN.

Dear all;

I want to know what will happen if a user connect "by mistake" both the PC port
and Switch port to the network switch? Will this create a loop? Anyone tried it
before?
