Hello, I installed ClamAv V.0.70-rc on my redhat 8 box. It updates virus database daily with freshclam. But the last few update logs in clam-update.log file says: ClamAV update process started at Mon Apr 26 02:58:59 2004 main.cvd is up to date (version: 22, sigs: 20229, f-level: 1, builder: tkojm) daily.cvd is up to date (version: 281, sigs: 989, f-level: 2, builder: tkojm) WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED - please update immediately ! WARNING: Current functionality level = 1, required = 2 So do I have to update my ClamAv, dont I? I ask this because Im a beginner. And dont know how to update my ClamAv... What should I do? I've put up a proof-of-concept (read 'ugly') virus alias database at http://www.kevinspicer.co.uk Its currently rather limited in that it only fully indexes Clam, Fsecure and Symantec (although some aliases for other vendors are picked up). If people feel it is worth pursuing then I'll try and find time to add some other vendors and maybe even make it less ugly (and validate the html!) Its on a DSL line, so please be gentle with me! I am doing it myself for the first time, beginner like you, but I use FreeBSD so I do not know how to do it with redhat but I think you do it with an rpm manager or download the rpm from clams site and install like new. But I bow to Redhat users greater knowledge on that one. FreeBSD Note: FreeBSD user cvsup ports tree and make install clean /usr/ports/security/clamav and force the pkg install. It worked until Saturday afternoon and stopped working, it started giving error in mail.log as Apr 24 13:58:27 mailserver clamav-milter[16797]: tempfile creation failed All mail processing stopped after these. Today morning I disabled clamav-milter in sendmail.cf. Nothing changed in regards to directories from clamav-0.70-rc to clamav-0.70. I had kept the same directories and permissions. [Clamav-users] Can't get clamav-milter going
I had clamav antivirus working fine for a couple months. Now after a reboot I can't it started to save my neck. After starting the clamd deamon, which creates /var/run/clamav/clamd.sock, and starting clamav-milter, clamav-milter exits with following error message: ClamAv: Unable to bind to port local:/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock: Address already in use. In use by possibly what? I haven't any idea what this message means or what I can do about it. I've tried increasing the debug level but this is about as much information as I can get. Also, I have tried going through the archive of this list and found exactly the same question but there was no answer. Please help !! Your quarantine directory is not writable by the user specified in clamav.conf. -Nigel I just restarted clamav and it's started working again. I did not change any permission or configuration. Permission on quarantine directory is set to user defined in clamav.conf. Any other reason for tempfile creation failure? just a word of advice for the future.i'd have put symlinks in the old locations, not copied executablesthat's a good way to end up with multiple versions down the line. if you make a symlink, then when you upgrade in location a, location b now points to the correct things... [Clamav-users] Trying to install on old machine
I'm running an old RH6.2 based box, which does most things OK for now (it's still kernel 2.2 though). I'm looking to upgrade soon, but would like to get ClamAV going on it for now. Well, if it still failed to compile you could get my linux static binary from http://clamav.or.id/. Should work on any linux i386. Built from latest CVS snapshot. Clamav-milter included.
