Thanks for your reply, René. The reason behind this question is that
"Open WebMail" uses the following default line to work with ClamAV (as
stated at
http://openwebmail.org/openwebmail/download/redhat/howto/virus/ClamAV/HOWTO-clamav.txt)
:

/usr/bin/clamdscan --mbox --disable-summary --stdout -

Which is not working for me, of course. And that's what I would have
solved.

Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, tell whoever made the howto that their documentation is out of
date. There is no --mbox parameter for clamDscan.

yes; reading 'man clamdscan', it turns out that clamdscan has not such
options; so:

* --mbox is implied by clamd.conf
* --disable-summary seems to be --no-summary
* the rest (--stdout -) is fine

if it works, you could drop a line to the people of openwebmail

Depends on how you integrate it, but certainly Amavis (as MrC said)
can do this, as can (from memory) clamav-milter.

Keep in mind that if you want to add that to the body then you're
getting into a world of hurt - it's not as simple as you might think.
Adding a header is much simpler.

This is what I do except I don't bother reading what someone else did,
and I build specifically for a Cfengine push-out. I have less than 10
man-minutes of involvement in the build and distribution enterprise wide
(less if I don't watch it). I spend a bit more time testing in a lab to
be sure I've picked up any new features, conf file changes or command
line options that might be new.

No Linux or Windows here.

There is nothing unholy about building from source nor about using
packages. They each have advantages and I'm in favor of those provided
by my choices. Ease of use and time saved are not valid criterion as
neither method can claim the advantage. Can we all just get along, now?

Not really. ClamAV doesn't do any modification of the data it scans. If
you want to do this, it is normally done as part of whichever program
